As a long-time fan of Rockstar Games, I can hardly contain my excitement at the prospect of seeing “Bully” return to modern consoles! Having grown up playing the original on PS2 and revisiting it multiple times since then, the idea of experiencing this classic adventure once again on the latest generations of hardware is simply exhilarating.
Reports indicate that there might be a return of the game “Bully,” as suggested by recent regulatory documents. It appears that Rockstar could be revamping “Bully” to suit the current generation of gaming consoles.
The game commonly referred to as a “bully” is a highly praised open-world action adventure, developed by Rockstar Vancouver in Europe. It was first released for the PS2 in 2006, followed by an enhanced version called the “Scholarship Edition,” which came out on the Wii, Xbox 360, and PC in 2008. In 2016, a third version titled “Bully: Anniversary Edition” was introduced, available on the iOS App Store and Google Play Store.
Bully Rated in Taiwan for PlayStation and Xbox Consoles
It seems that another potential release of the game “Bully” could be forthcoming, as evidenced by fresh age ratings appearing in Taiwan’s Digital Game Rating Committee database. These new ratings cover versions for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, all dated late August 2024. Interestingly, this update also includes new ratings for the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game, although it’s possible that the X360 rating might be a mistake given that “Bully: Scholarship Edition” was previously rated by the DGRC in 2006.
Bully’s GTA+ Debut Is Possibly Connected to Taiwan Ratings
Although these ratings might suggest that Rockstar is developing a new version of the game, there could be another explanation. The company has just added “Bully” to its GTA+ subscription service for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. This action may have led them to revise the game’s age ratings.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but speculate that Rockstar might be planning something similar to their recent moves. You see, they’ve already remastered one of their classic games with the 2021 Grand Theft Auto Trilogy collection. And let’s not forget about Red Dead Redemption, which was brought to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in 2023, celebrating its 13th anniversary at that time. So, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to imagine them revisiting another classic title soon.
Just recently, the new age classifications for DGRC have surfaced online, following a report suggesting Rockstar was previously developing a DS version of ‘Bully’. However, this project seems to have been abandoned around 2009, likely due to the team at Rockstar Leeds being diverted to aid Team Bondi in completing ‘LA Noire’. Additionally, Taiwan’s game rating board has recently unveiled ratings for console versions of ‘Nine Sols’, a highly praised metroidvania currently exclusive to PC. So far, there’s been no official announcement about its release on other platforms.
