After ten years of development and testing, Escape from Tarkov is officially launching this week. The game has become incredibly popular, establishing itself as the leading extraction shooter, and will reach its full 1.0 version this Saturday.
Nikita Buyanov, the head of Battlestate Games, recently hinted that Escape from Tarkov’s single-player experience could receive a major change to how difficult it is.
They Might Wipe the PvE Flea Market
In a recent interview, Nikita hinted that Battlestate Games might reset the items available on the Flea Market when the 1.0 update launches, but only for the PvE game mode. Pestily explained that PvE players have accumulated a large amount of items over time, which is disrupting the in-game economy of that mode.
Nikita said:
We will see. Maybe we will wipe the Flea Market, for example.
No one has forbidden us from doing that. We’re free to reset the Flea Market system, as it’s designed to be easily cleared and won’t cause any issues.

Players of Escape from Tarkov who primarily enjoy playing against AI enemies (PvE) will have to start a new account to experience the new storyline coming with the 1.0 update. This story will let players finally achieve the game’s main goal – escaping Tarkov – and will feature a campaign with choices that lead to different endings.
This is disappointing for players who focus on Player versus Environment (PvE), like me. We’ve worked hard for a year to collect great items and create powerful characters, and it’s frustrating that PvE progress isn’t automatically reset, leaving our efforts vulnerable.
The current economic system is somewhat unbalanced, so a fresh start could help restore stability.
