  • The feature will debut as part of the Dapper Delights update on August 21.
  • Multiplayer was originally added to Disney Dreamlight Valley in December 2023. All non-PlayStation versions of the game already offered cross-play support from day one.

As a long-time Disney fanatic who’s spent countless hours immersed in the magical worlds of these beloved characters, I can’t help but cheer at the news that Disney Dreamlight Valley is finally bringing cross-platform play to PlayStation consoles! It’s high time that PlayStation players like myself could explore the valleys of our fellow gamers from other platforms.

The much-anticipated feature of cross-platform gameplay is now coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in Disney Dreamlight Valley. This significant upgrade will be introduced with the upcoming Dapper Delights update for the game.

Since December 2023, multiplayer functionality has been a feature in Gameloft’s popular life sim, Disney Dreamlight Valley. This addition was introduced with the update titled “The Pumpkin King Returns”. Since then, players have had the ability to explore other users’ worlds. However, Sony’s PlayStation users were initially restricted to visiting valleys created by fellow PlayStation users within their own ecosystem.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Cross-Platform Play Coming to PlayStation on August 21

The long-awaited restriction on the Disney Dreamlight Valley game is set to be removed in the upcoming Dapper Delights update. This update will enable cross-platform play between PS4 and PS5, making the PlayStation version of the game compatible with its counterparts. The Dapper Delights update is planned for release on Wednesday, August 21st, but the precise release time remains undisclosed at this point.

Playing Disney Dreamlight Valley across various platforms won’t alter the process of initiating its multiplayer feature, instead it broadens the selection of valleys that everyone can explore. If you haven’t delved into the game’s multiplayer yet, you first need to unlock Vanellope. Once this is done, she will offer you a quest called “Valley Visits.” The initial step in this quest involves obtaining the KL-1200 Valley Visit Station from her. This decorative item can be placed at an outdoor location within the Valley via the Furniture menu. Completing this placement will finish Vanellope’s quest and activate multiplayer functionality.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Multiplayer Remains Fairly Limited

From the online buzz about the upcoming update in Disney Dreamlight Valley, reactions vary from quiet excitement to a sense of apathy. While the prospect of meeting more characters sounds appealing, it’s worth noting that the multiplayer aspect isn’t one of the game’s standout features. This is mainly due to the limited functionality it provides. Essentially, exploring other players’ worlds is the main activity in multiplayer mode. With such a minimalist approach, the majority of users now primarily use multiplayer for trading items within Disney Dreamlight Valley.

In the debut of Dapper Delights, cross-platform play for PlayStation isn’t the only exciting feature; there are several others on the horizon! The upcoming major update will also bring in Tiana, the lead character from The Princess and the Frog. Alongside Tiana, her restaurant and food stall will be introduced. Additionally, a new Star Path inspired by the Roaring Twenties is coming. Furthermore, the next update for Disney Dreamlight Valley will expand Scrooge McDuck’s Store with new items, introduce various types of new furniture, and offer quality-of-life improvements such as the option to favorite and hide items. Other enhancements include… and so forth.
