Starbreeze Reveals Update on Dungeons & Dragons Game, Plans For Partnerships

As a seasoned gamer with decades of Dungeons & Dragons adventures under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement about Project Baxter. The fact that it’s now in full production and growing as planned is music to my ears. I’ve been waiting for a new D&D game that truly captures the essence of the tabletop experience, and Starbreeze seems to be on the right track.

In the latest quarterly update, Starbreeze has shared additional information about their forthcoming Dungeons & Dragons game, providing insights into where the project stands in its development process.

Back in May 2024, Starbreeze designated Mats Juhl as their temporary CEO. Recently, Juhl shared fresh insights regarding the Dungeons & Dragons game that goes by the working title ‘Project Baxter’.

According to Juhl, Project Baxter is currently in its full manufacturing phase, and it’s progressing exactly as expected, maintaining a steady pace.

Additionally, they affirmed intentions to explore potential collaborations regarding the game. Juhl expressed that while Starbreeze will be the publisher, their aim is to establish alliances that are advantageous for both the game and Starbreeze.

Juhl explained that these partnerships might strengthen “promotional efforts, logistics, or other aspects to enhance the caliber and prospects of the project, all while managing risk for Starbreeze.”

The recently released document further discussed the timeline for prospective collaborations, as Juhl explains that “Phase of Project Baxter, starting in the fall, will see us becoming more active in identifying and engaging with potential partners.”

In the latest quarterly update, Juhl reinforced that Project Baxter will be launched in the year 2026, a fact initially disclosed by Starbreeze back in December 2023 when they announced the game’s title.

As I’ve checked on their official page, Project Baxter appears to be an Unreal Engine game. It offers cooperative multiplayer action, a long-term commitment through the Game as a Service model, and active community interaction – making it sound like we’re in this adventure together for the long haul!
