Backyard Sports Returns With Franchise Revival

As a kid who spent countless hours playing Backyard Sports games back in the day, this announcement has brought a wave of nostalgia and excitement! The memories I had with these games are priceless, from the friendly neighborhood rivalries to the endless hours spent perfecting my pitch or pass.

Is it time we step out into the yard? It’s been ten years since Playground Productions declared that the Backyard Sports series will be making a comeback.

The announcement came via a trailer after days of teases on social media.

As a die-hard fan, I couldn’t help but jump out of excitement when I saw the initial trailer revealing the comeback of Backyard Baseball as one of the premiere titles! It seems we can also anticipate other sports like Football, Basketball, and more to receive the Backyard Sports makeover.

“Chris Waters, the head of product at Playground Productions, announced with great enthusiasm that they are bringing back ‘Backyard Sports’ for modern gamers to enjoy,” (paraphrased sentence)

“We’re being meticulous in maintaining the charm of the original games, but at the same time, infusing them with contemporary elements and gameplay that modern gamers are accustomed to. I’m really excited for fans to witness the innovative work we’re doing on the Playground.”

1997 marked the start of the series with the initial release of Backyard Baseball. Subsequently, the brand expanded into various other sports such as football, hockey, soccer, and basketball. More recently, games from this franchise have been adapted for mobile devices, with the latest releases appearing in 2015.
