World of Warcraft Player Obtains Two of the Rarest Mounts on the Same Day

World of Warcraft Player Obtains Two of the Rarest Mounts on the Same Day

Highlights

  • One World of Warcraft player managed to get the Mimiron’s Head and Invincible mounts on the same day.
  • The drop rate for these mounts is around 1%, making this a particularly impressive feat.
  • Shortly after, the player also managed to snag the incredibly rare Chromatic Sword.

As a seasoned World of Warcraft player who has spent countless hours farming for rare mounts since The Burning Crusade, I can confidently say that ickyys’ achievement is nothing short of extraordinary! Obtaining both Mimiron’s Head and Invincible on the same day, not to mention the Chromatic Sword shortly after, is a feat that very few players have ever experienced. It’s like winning the lottery three times in one day!

A remarkably fortunate player in World of Warcraft scored both Mimiron’s Head and Invincible on a single day. Since The Burning Crusade expansion, there has been a growing emphasis on acquiring prestigious mounts within World of Warcraft, which are typically rare drops from raids. Before the opening of the Dark Portal, owning a Swift Zulian Tiger or Deathcharger’s Reins was considered impressive, but the Ashes of Al’ar from Tempest Keep became the benchmark for rare mounts in the game.

In World of Warcraft’s expansion known as Wrath of the Lich King, Blizzard introduced two rare mounts: Mimiron’s Head in Ulduar and Invincible in Icecrown Citadel. These mounts could be acquired by overcoming the final boss of their respective raids on the most challenging difficulty at that time. The introduction of Cataclysm in 2010 decreased the drop rate to approximately 1%, making them equally (or even slightly more) elusive than Ashes of Al’ar. Despite years of effort, World of Warcraft players found themselves with only one weekly chance to farm Mimiron’s Head and Invincible due to the raid lockout system.

ickyys’ achievement in obtaining both Mimiron’s Head and Invincible mounts on the same day within World of Warcraft is truly remarkable. As evidence, ickyys shared a screenshot showcasing their relevant World of Warcraft achievements. On August 19, 2024, they managed to loot these two rare items, with the player also quickly obtaining the incredibly elusive mount shortly thereafter. Despite farming Icecrown Citadel and Ulduar becoming less challenging over time, it doesn’t diminish the shine of ickyys’ extraordinary good fortune.

World of Warcraft Player Obtains Invincible And Mimiron’s Head In A Single Day

Despite the numerous rare mounts introduced in subsequent raid tiers for World of Warcraft, the horse known as Invincible remains a cherished favorite among fans due to its association with Arthas Menethil, one of the most revered antagonists in World of Warcraft lore. Given that Invincible was once the steed of Arthas, it holds great allure, particularly for long-time Warcraft players who experienced The Frozen Throne expansion back in 2003.

With the looming arrival of “The War Within”, I, as a dedicated World of Warcraft player, am gearing up for a new chapter in Azeroth. The culmination of Dragonflight marks the beginning of the Worldsoul Saga, a three-part epic that promises to resolve the significant storylines woven throughout the game’s rich history. In “The War Within”, I will confront the Nerubians for the first time in a raid, a faction that has remained silent since the days of “Wrath of the Lich King”.
