The highly anticipated title, “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle“, has been confirmed for release on PlayStation 5, in addition to PC and Xbox platforms. Surprisingly, this is possible even though the game is being developed by studios owned by Xbox. MachineGames, renowned for their work on the “Wolfenstein” series, are the creators of this exciting project. As a predominantly first-person action-adventure game, “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” is gearing up to be one of the standout day one games available on Game Pass in 2022.
Since MachineGames and Bethesda are both under Microsoft’s ownership, it was expected that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle would debut as an exclusive game for Xbox consoles first. Previously announced, this game is also scheduled to be available on Xbox Game Pass on its release day. Now, it has been confirmed that PlayStation players will eventually get to play the game, even though they won’t be able to join in at launch.
As a thrilled fan, I couldn’t contain my excitement when at Gamescom 2024, it was officially confirmed that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle would indeed be going multi-platform, as we had all been hoping for. However, what truly set my heart racing was the news that Xbox console users will get to experience this adventure first, as a timed-exclusive starting December 9, 2024. For those patiently waiting on PS5, you’ll have to wait until spring 2025 to join us in this epic journey!

The game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which is owned by Xbox, isn’t the first title from their library to transition to PS5. In fact, this year, Xbox has been experimenting with a new multi-platform approach, moving some older games and live-service titles onto competing platforms. Games like Sea of Thieves and Grounded have made the jump, but big names such as Halo, Forza, Gears of War, and Starfield have yet to be seen on PS5. There are whispers that Xbox’s most iconic franchises might eventually appear on PlayStation, but no official announcements have been made. At this moment, only the game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has been confirmed as a multi-platform release from Xbox.
At Gamescom, Bethesda not only revealed the release date for “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” on multiple platforms, including PS5, but also unveiled new gameplay footage. This footage highlighted Troy Baker as Indiana Jones and demonstrated the game’s first-person combat and exploration features.
