The Most Ridiculous Weapons In The Dead Rising Games, Ranked

Highlights

  • Novelty masks can blind and incapacitate zombies, making them stumble aimlessly in a funny way.
  • Jurassic Barf spews acid with a funny animation, while Pegasus impales zombies.
  • Super Slicer combines a Servbot mask with a Lawn Mower to slice zombies into pieces in a hilarious way.

As a seasoned survivor of numerous zombie apocalypses, I must admit that the weapons in the Dead Rising series have always been a source of both amusement and necessity for me. However, none have left such an indelible mark on my post-apocalyptic heart as the enchanting Magic Wand and the downright preposterous Party Gloves.

The Dead Rising video game series is particularly popular due to its extensive collection of bizarre and entertaining weapons that players can use. These range from regular items like knives-equipped boxing gloves, all the way to electrified shopping carts. There’s a weapon to suit every taste within the Dead Rising universe.

As a seasoned survivor of the zombie apocalypse, I’ve seen and used my fair share of unusual weapons to fend off the undead hordes. This list, however, is not about the conventional firearms or even improvised explosives. Instead, it delves into the most eccentric, preposterous, and downright absurd ways to dismantle zombies in the quirkiest of manners. You won’t find any vehicles on this list – though one exception slips through the cracks, being technically a vehicle but also functioning as something else, earning it a special pass.

10 Novelty Masks

Dead Rising

  • Four masks available: Ghoul, Horse, Bar and Servbot
  • Can be used to blind and incapacitate zombies and also thrown at them to do a small amount of damage

In the original “Dead Rising” game, novelty masks served as an entertaining yet somewhat absurd weapon against zombies. Unlike other weapons, they had minimal impact when thrown at a zombie, but their unique function was to cover the zombie’s head, rendering it blind and unable to attack. Wearing these masks caused zombies to stumble around confusedly and occasionally trip over, providing an amusing and comical means of handling the undead.

9 Jurassic Barf

Dead Rising 4

  • Made by combining a chemical weapon with a T-Rex mask
  • Blueprint found in The Peaks Motel in North Peak

In the Dead Rising series, there are numerous unique weapon combinations, including the Fountain Lizard and Flaming Helmet masks. But, Jurassic Barf stands out, primarily due to its amusing name pun, and secondly for the entertaining animation that Frank performs when he employs it.

The Jurassic Vomit weapon is like a T-Rex mask that squirts acid at nearby zombies, but when Frank uses his stronger attack, he’ll perform dinosaur-like maneuvers with an animated effect. Additionally, the acid spray is a fun nod to the spitting dinosaurs seen in the original Jurassic Park movie.

8 Pegasus

Dead Rising: Off The Record

  • Made by combining Rocket Fireworks with a Stick Pony
  • The combo card is unlocked when reaching level 22

In the alternate version of Dead Rising 2, titled Dead Rising: Off the Record, you’ll find an exclusive weapon called Pegasus. This game offers a fresh perspective, focusing on Frank West, the protagonist from the original Dead Rising. The Pegasus is essentially a stick pony toy adorned with fireworks that detonate when used against zombies, creating a dazzling display of light.

Players can use the Pegasus to inflict harm on zombies or, for a more thrilling option, impale them and launch them skyward. When airborne, these zombies detonate, showering sparks of both blood and internal organs. What’s not to enjoy?

7 Super Slicer

Dead Rising 2

  • Made by combining a Servbot Mask with a Lawn Mower
  • The combo card is unlocked when reaching level 32 or 33

In the game Dead Rising 2, this wearable helmet presents an unconventional yet fun choice of weapon for players. It’s not your typical fighting tool; instead, it’s a combo of a Servbot mask and lawnmower blades! Players can don the mask and use their head as the weapon to slice through zombies, turning them into tiny pieces.

As a fanatic wielder of the Super Slicer, I can vouch for its unique ability – it empowers me to charge forward, obliterating hordes of zombies with ease, reducing them to nothing but goo. The ever-grinning Servbot mask remains an unyielding spectator throughout these chaotic episodes, adding a touch of madness and laughter to each brutal slice.

6 Suckmaster 3000

Dead Rising 4

  • Made by combining a mechanical weapon with a Vacuum
  • Can be purchased at the weapons vendor in the Mall Emergency Shelter

Following is an item that, while not visually absurd compared to others, produces an outcome that is rather laughable, hence its inclusion here.

The Suckmaster 3000 creates a mini black hole of sorts and when thrown into a crowd of zombies, it will start to suck them together and then crush them into nothingness. The weapon can crush hundreds of zombies into dust at once, so not only is this a ridiculous weapon that can cause a chuckle or two as the zombies are sucked into a vortex, but it’s also one of the best weapons in the entire franchise.

5 Blitzkrieg

Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising: Off the Record

  • Made by combining an Electric Chair and a Merc Assault Rifle
  • The combo card is unlocked when reaching level 49 or 50

Obtaining the Blitzkrieg in Dead Rising 2 can be challenging since you won’t be able to get hold of the Merc Assault Rifle necessary for its creation until later stages of the game. However, despite its rarity and somewhat absurd appearance, the Blitzkrieg is definitely worth acquiring due to its effectiveness.

The Blitzkrieg is a modified electric wheelchair armed with two rifles attached to the armrests, allowing players to roll around while firing at zombies. Although it’s slow-moving, this vehicle boasts immense power and can handle numerous undead enemies. However, users may find themselves looking quite comical during gameplay (in a fun, unique way).

4 Super Massager

Dead Rising: Off the Record and Dead Rising 3

  • Made by combining a Leaf Blower with a Massager
  • Off the Record: Combo card unlocked by examining the Massage-O-Tron 3000 movie poster in the South Plaza.
  • Dead Rising 3: Blueprint found in Speedy’s G Spot in South Almuda

In the Dead Rising series, the massager is an unusual tool that might seem ludicrous as a weapon. However, the Super Massager takes this concept to another level, enabling players not only to wallop zombies with it, but also to hurl these massagers at them.

The Super Massager is designed to penetrate zombies, but don’t let the term ‘penetration’ mislead you. Although it may seem like a comical or novelty weapon, it packs quite a punch, inflicting substantial damage on hordes of zombies. Players can efficiently eliminate numerous zombies in an over-the-top and absurd fashion with its unique method.

3 Magic Wand

Dead Rising 4

  • Made by combining Chemicals with a Wand
  • Can be purchased at the weapons vendor in the Mall Emergency Shelter

If you’re a player seeking to infuse some holiday spirit amidst the undead, the Magic Wand is an ideal, whimsical weapon of choice. This enchanted tool empowers players to transform zombies into various festive items like Christmas gifts and candy canes.

In a significant departure from the usual pattern of the series, the fourth installment became quite unpopular among fans due to its drastic change in direction. However, it’s undeniable that this game features some absolutely outrageous weapons that are an absolute blast to use, with the Magic Wand being a standout favorite.

2 Party Gloves

Dead Rising 3

  • Made by combining a Toy Robot with Boxing Gloves
  • Blueprints found in the Sunset Hills gazebo

Coming up is an unassuming weapon in terms of power, but it’s full of humor due to its unique design. This weapon, surprisingly created by merging boxing gloves with a toy robot, sports rubber ducks attached to each knuckle. The presence of the ducks results in a squeaky sound every time Nick throws a punch while wearing these gloves. When equipped, Nick’s punches become rapid-fire, resulting in numerous playful squawks as players begin to attack zombies with them.

In simpler terms, the Party Gloves from Dead Rising 3 function as a swift, albeit feeble, weapon. Unfortunately, they’re not suitable for serious combat. Instead, their absurdity makes them one of the most comical items in the game.

1 All Stuffed/Robot Bears

All Dead Rising Games except Dead Rising 4

  • Regular teddy bears and combo weapons
  • Includes the Freedom Bear (DR2 and 3), Volatile Bear (DR3), Bomb Toy (DR3) and Pushy Bear (DR3)

To round things off, we come to the noteworthy teddy bear weapons that appear in every installment of the Dead Rising series (except for Dead Rising 4). These bears might seem silly and incredibly enjoyable to employ, but as the games advanced, players were given the opportunity to transform these adorable and comforting toys into formidable zombie-slaying devices.

In the initial “Dead Rising”, the Stuffed Bear was used more as a quirky distraction against zombies, dealing a minimal amount of damage. However, starting from “Dead Rising 2”, these bears transformed into Robot Bears with the ability to move and interact with other items, resulting in formidable weapons. One of the most popular among fans is the Freedom Bear. By merging a Robot Bear with a Light Machine Gun (LMG), you create the Freedom Bear, a turret-like weapon that can be strategically placed in an area. When zombies enter its line of fire, it automatically targets and shoots them.

In Dead Rising 3, the quirky teddy bear interactions were taken to new heights. New weapon combinations were introduced, like the Bomb Toy – crafted by merging a Gasoline Canister with a Robot Bear, resulting in an explosive tool for swiftly eliminating hordes of zombies. Additionally, in this game, you could also make use of super-weapon combos involving the Freedom Bear base. Weapons such as the Pushy Bear, which can be pushed around like a wheelbarrow, and the Boom Bear, that lets Freedom Bear carry two Grenade Launchers instead of LMGs, were added to the game.

In the Dead Rising series, the evolution of the teddy bear weapons and the sheer, uncontrollable amusement they provide make the Plush and Mechanical Bears stand out as the most hilariously effective weapons.
