How to Beat Wandering Wight in Black Myth: Wukong

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I can confidently say that Black Myth: Wukong has taken me by storm! The sheer number of bosses to conquer is enough to make any gaming heart race. However, one early adversary stands out as particularly challenging – the Wandering Wight.

As a gamer embarking on my journey through Black Myth: Wukong, I’ve come across roughly 80 formidable bosses ripe for challenge. Some of these encounters are optional, but I strongly advise giving them a shot at least once for the unique experience and prizes they offer. However, one early-game boss can test even the most seasoned combat veterans as they master the game’s mechanics. Here’s my take on how to conquer the Wandering Wight in Black Myth: Wukong!

Where to Find Wandering Wight

As a fan, I’d recommend that you should initially focus on tracking your quarry. The elusive Wandering Wight can be found within the Forest of Wolves. To be precise, he’s just a stone’s throw away from the Forest Shrine, beyond the small bridge that houses the Wolf Guai.

As a fellow enthusiast, let me assure you, you’ll instantly recognize his presence and the distinctive sound of his footsteps. That’s the colossal infant making quite the commotion as he ambles through the woodland glade – it’s not exactly subtle!

How to Defeat Wandering Wight

1st things 1st, prior to confronting the Wandering Wight, I’d advise taking some time to explore the entire zone first. In the distant part, beyond the large wooden bridge that spans over the river running through here, you’ll discover another battle arena which houses an additional optional boss. This boss is known as Guangzhi. Although he’s formidable, he’s less challenging than the Wandering Wight. By defeating Guangzhi, you’ll acquire Red Tides, a remarkable Spell that lets you transform into Guangzhi temporarily, dealing fire damage for a brief span. While in this transformed state, you won’t sustain any harm; instead, any damage inflicted on you decreases the transformation duration. This can be incredibly useful against the Wandering Wight!

Now, on to the actual boss fight you’re here to learn about!

If you strategically wait for the moment when the Wandering Wight turns its back and walks towards the arena’s rear, you can seize the advantage by executing a complete light attack series. By this point, you should have mastered the skill of Immobilize, which should be used judiciously to complement your timing. Upon completing your first attack sequence, swiftly follow up with Immobilize for an immediate second strike. Although it might not allow you to complete the combo fully, you can still inflict significant damage before the fight intensifies properly.

Currently, you’ve caught the notice and contempt of the Wandering Wight, a formidable foe with devastating area-of-effect attacks. If you’re not cautious, these attacks can abruptly end your journey in one strike. Particularly, beware of his ground slam attack that churns up the earth around him in an expanding circle; if you’re not careful, it could bring tears to your eyes.

When fighting the Wandering Wight, be aware of his numerous wind-ups and the warning signs before he attacks. Take advantage of this time to ready your dodge. Since his assaults often consist of multiple strikes, ensure you evade each one. Once the creature stops to catch its breath, seize the opportunity to counterattack. If successful, you’ll weaken the boss, as it’s vulnerable to staggering. Keep an eye out for two specific moments to capitalize on:

To conquer the Roaming Revenant, seize every opportunity that comes your way, but avoid overreaching. Despite his massive form, he’s surprisingly swift. After executing a strong maneuver, you’ll get a fleeting moment to inflict some damage, followed by another attack from him. Make sure to capitalize on the spaces between his attacks!
