Bethesda has disclosed the complete list of changes for update 1.13.61 in Starfield. In this release, players will encounter the game’s inaugural land vehicle, improved graphics options, and a mix of bug resolutions and user interface enhancements, along with several other exciting new features.

On the night of August 20 (Central European Time), during Gamescom Opening Night Live, the newest update for Starfield was revealed. Shortly after, this update became available to players on both PC and Xbox Series X/S.

Starfield Update 1.13.61 Introduces REV-8 Land Vehicle

Bethesda has revealed all the updates for their latest launch, and the highlights include the introduction of REV-8, the first space-faring RPG’s land vehicle. You can acquire this new mode of transport by speaking to any Ship Services Technician, often found near major spaceports. Interacting with them will present a new option to buy the REV-8 for 25,000 credits. The vehicle allows for some minor customization through various paint schemes.

The recently implemented update for the RPG on Xbox Series S now offers extra graphical options to match those of its Xbox Series X version, ensuring that Starfield can run at 60 frames per second without mods on the former. Users with variable refresh rate displays can select targets of 30, 40, or 60 FPS, or go for the Uncapped option. Those using non-variable refresh rate displays can still choose between 30 and 60 FPS targets, although the latter may lead to screen tearing on such displays. The newly included VSync feature should help reduce or eliminate screen tearing.

The latest update addresses persistent issues in the Starfield Photo Mode that have been problematic for quite some time. For instance, interior lighting within stations and ships during photo sessions is now consistent, and helmets on fallen companions will no longer disregard user preferences. Bethesda has also enhanced reflection quality in shallow puddles and rectified upscaling issues that led to visual distortions and impacted frame settings on PC.

In addition, the 1.13.61 update focuses on resolving multiple issues related to decoration functionality. This patch rectifies an issue where players could place indoor items outside ships, and ensures that flood lamps operate properly at outposts with a power supply. Additionally, it includes minor user interface adjustments, as well as corrections for quest and gameplay bugs.

Starfield Update 1.13.61 Patch Notes

New Graphics Settings

  • Frame Rate Target: You can now choose between 30, 40, 60 or an Uncapped frame rate on VRR displays. If you do not have a VRR display running 120hz, you will still be able to select from 30 or 60. Screen tearing may occur at times when selecting 60 on a non-VRR display.
  • Prioritize: You can now prioritize between Visuals and Performance while trying to maintain the frame rate target. If you’re choosing a frame rate target of 60 or above, we recommend changing this to Performance. Prioritizing Visuals keeps the highest resolution while maintaining full detail for special effects, lighting, and crowds. Prioritizing Performance lowers internal resolution and detail for special effects, lighting, and crowds. Both modes may adjust internal resolution dynamically when scenes or action get heavier as well. When switching between modes, you will see the lighting change briefly as the system catches up to the new mode.
  • VSync: You can now toggle between VSync off or on. Choosing off will separate the game frames from the monitor’s refresh rate and may result in screen tearing. Toggling On will synchronize the frame rate to the monitor’s refresh rate avoiding screen tearing but limiting number of frames.
