As a seasoned Pokémon Go player with years of experience under my belt, I must say that September 2024 is shaping up to be an exciting month for our community! The announcement of Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta as the featured creatures for Community Day has me buzzing with anticipation.
As a dedicated Pokemon GO gamer, I’m thrilled to share that Niantic has revealed some exciting news for us! In September 2024, our Community Day event will be all about Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta. That’s right, we get to catch the fiery Kanto native and its regional variant from Hisui, Galarian Ponyta. The luckiest among us might even find these fantastic Pokemon in their shiny forms!
Niantic recently hinted at two Pokemon for September’s Community Day event, suggesting a double catch opportunity for players. Notably, this isn’t the first time they’ve done something like this for a Community Day. In March 2022, Sandshrew and its Alolan form were the featured Pokemon. Fast forward to 2023, and we had Slowpoke and Galarian Slowpoke in March, followed by Wooper and its Paldean variant in November.
During the September Community Day event on the 14th of September from 2 pm to 5 pm local time, Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta will become more common in the wild. If you evolve either Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta during this event or within five hours afterward, you’ll get a Rapidash or Galarian Rapidash that knows the Charged Attack “Wild Charge.” This move deals 90 damage in trainer battles and 100 damage in gyms and raids. To access a Special Research for this event, which costs $1.00 USD, you’ll need to be Friends at the Great Friend level or higher with someone who can gift it to you.
Pokemon GO September Community Day Details
- Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time
- Featured Pokemon: Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta
- Evolving Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta into Rapidash or Galarian Rapidash grants the Charged Attack Wild Charge
- Players will be able to purchase a new Community Day Special Research
- 4-star raids featuring Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta will take place after Community Day
During the September Community Day event, players can expect several perks including doubled Candy and tripled Stardust upon catching Pokemon, reduced Stardust requirements for trades, and four-star raid battles with Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta from 5 pm to 10 pm local time on September 14th. Winning these raids will cause an increase in the spawn of both creatures near the hosting Gym for half an hour. This special event will also offer themed Field Research, new exhibits, two unique bundles, and a special box available for purchase within the game and Niantic’s online store. Additionally, players can look forward to purchasing new stickers through in-game purchases, spinning PokeStops, or by opening Gifts.
Beyond Community Day in September, Ponyta will also appear in the Triumph Together event, which is one of the final activities taking place in August. During this event, players will join forces to tackle challenges, gaining benefits and exclusive prizes. One such reward will be encountering a Ponyta adorned with an accessory inspired by Candela, the leader of Team Valor, one of the groups within Pokemon GO.
