As a long-time Nintendo enthusiast who has been following the industry since the days of the NES, I am absolutely thrilled at the prospect of another Nintendo Direct before August 2024 comes to an end! The anticipation for new game announcements and updates is palpable in the gaming community right now.

It’s possible that a genuine Nintendo Direct broadcast might take place before the end of August 2024, as suggested by a trusted source. The recent months have been filled with numerous video game unveilings, courtesy of Summer Games Fest, Gamescom 2024, and the June 2024 Nintendo Direct livestream which showcased titles like “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom” and “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond”.

As a passionate Nintendo fan, I was thrilled to hear about another upcoming Nintendo Direct event scheduled for August 19th. However, my excitement waned when I learned that this particular livestream wouldn’t focus on any upcoming video games. Instead, it promised a glimpse into the world of the Nintendo Museum, set to open in Kyoto come October. This museum will showcase an array of exhibits detailing Nintendo’s illustrious gaming history, which is undoubtedly exciting news for fellow gaming enthusiasts like myself. Yet, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment, as many of us had hoped for a more traditional, game-centric Nintendo Direct before the end of summer.

There’s a possibility that we might see a genuine Nintendo Direct livestream in August, according to insider PH Brazil on Famiboards (as reported by Comicbook). Previously, this user had predicted a new Nintendo Direct, and some believed they were discussing the Nintendo Museum presentation. However, PH Brazil has clarified that there’s more planned for the remainder of the month. Some users are cautious due to only one week being left in August, but others think Nintendo might use a new Nintendo Direct livestream to promote the upcoming launch of Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club, scheduled for August 29.

August 2024 Could Have A Second Nintendo Direct

Historically, Nintendo has a Direct event either in August or September to showcase the upcoming fall games for that particular year. Excitingly, there are some great releases coming up for Nintendo Switch fans. The much-awaited game “Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom” is due on September 26. In October and November, gamers can look forward to more adventures with Mario and friends through “Super Mario Party Jamboree” and “Mario & Luigi: Brothership”. Starting off the year 2025, “Donkey Kong Country Returns HD” will be first on the list, and it’s been reported that we can also expect the release of highly-anticipated sequels like “Pokemon Legends: Z-A” and “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond”.

It’s ideal to unveil more details about these upcoming titles, including any new indie games coming to the Switch, at an upcoming Nintendo Direct. Additionally, there are rumors of a yet-to-be-named Switch 2 console, set for release between now and March 2025. If another Nintendo Direct is planned before August ends, Nintendo should announce it soon as the month is nearing its end.
