The much-awaited Community Quality of Life Update (QoL) version 1.18 for Dying Light 2 has now been launched! This new build incorporates several bug fixes and modifications to enhance your gaming experience. The last significant update for Dying Light 2, Update 1.17, was rolled out in late June before this one.
The follow-up to Techland’s acclaimed survival horror adventure from 2015, titled “Dying Light 2“, is often hailed as one of the top open-world zombie games ever created. Since its launch in February 2022, “Dying Light 2” has consistently received updates and patches, along with a story expansion called “Bloody Ties“. A fresh update for the game was recently rolled out, enhancing several aspects of the title.
As a dedicated gamer diving into Dying Light 2, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the 1.18 update that dropped on August 20. This update tackled a myriad of issues, one of them being the bug that impeded players from connecting with others via Quick Join. It also addressed a snag in cooperative play that prevented completion of certain quests under specific conditions. Interestingly, this glitch was particularly noticeable during the late-game Epilogue arc, according to the patch notes.
Update 1.18 was released concurrently with Techland’s announcement of a new standalone game entitled “Dying Light: The Beast,” unveiled during Gamescom 2024. This upcoming title will feature the comeback of Kyle Crane, the protagonist from Dying Light. Notably, owners of the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2 can look forward to playing The Beast at no additional cost once it’s released.
The exact launch date for “The Beast,” a standalone zombie apocalypse adventure by Techland, hasn’t been disclosed yet, but they’ve hinted that it’s nearing completion. They promise to unveil release details at the earliest convenience. As for additional content for “The Beast,” there are no current plans for DLC, but rest assured, updates for “Dying Light 2” will be forthcoming in the next five years following its debut.
In January of 2023, Techland announced that the Dying Light series had collectively sold 30 million units globally. The precursor to Dying Light 2, due to a substantial 85% discount in May, experienced a significant surge in player numbers, with the game being available for as low as $2.99.
