Recently, players of the game ARC Raiders tried an experiment: they temporarily disabled crossplay between PlayStation 5 and PC to see which group of players was more welcoming. ARC Raiders launched on October 30th and is playable on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Even though ARC Raiders has competitive player-versus-player combat, the game’s community is known for its helpfulness. Recently, players overwhelmingly supported a community event where they were asked to donate resources to unlock the Stella Montis map. The response was so enthusiastic that the developers at Embark Studios actually increased the donation goal, but the community still achieved it in less than a day.
ARC Raiders Players Test the PS5 and PC Communities
A Reddit user named Monstras-Patrick recently shared the results of an experiment done by two players of the game ARC Raiders. One player used a PlayStation 5, and the other used a PC. They both disabled crossplay, ensuring they only played with others on the same platform. The PS5 player played 84 matches and encountered 237 other players. Of those encounters, about 18% wished them luck, nearly 24% were friendly before attacking, over 43% immediately shot at them, almost 12% teamed up but then betrayed them when trying to leave the match, and just under 3% remained friendly and cooperated until the end.

Players on PC had a noticeably different experience in ARC Raiders. One player participated in 51 matches and met 172 other players. Of those encounters, about 57% wished them well, only 4% pretended to be friendly, 27% immediately attacked, nearly 2% betrayed them when trying to leave the match, and around 10% were friendly and stayed that way throughout. This suggests the PC community is less aggressive and more upfront about being friendly or working together. It’s important to remember that these results don’t include Xbox Series X/S players, so we can’t compare those players to those on PlayStation 5 or PC.
Some ARC Raiders players are discussing which platform has the most welcoming community, but a bigger concern for many is encountering unfriendly players based on the skins they use. The ‘Ryder’ skin from the Raider Deck, in particular, has become known for being associated with hostile behavior. However, it seems the issue isn’t with the skin itself, but specifically with players who use Ryder with a mask and no helmet. Despite these concerns, fans are generally excited about the future of ARC Raiders and all the new content coming soon.
