Squirrel With a Gun Gets October 2024 Release Date For Xbox & PlayStation

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt and a soft spot for quirky indie titles, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement at the upcoming release of Squirrel with a Gun! Having grown up on classics like Conker’s Bad Fur Day and more recent hits like Goat Simulator 3, this furry-armed acorn collector seems right up my alley.

Today, Maximum Entertainment officially announced that the game titled “Squirrel with a Gun” is set to debut on both Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on October 15, 2024.

Up until now, the release dates for these platforms were only specified as autumn 2024. However, today’s announcement lines up with day three of Gamescom. The latest console reveal trailer unveils gameplay featuring vehicles, drones, diverse shooting and platforming experiences, among other things.

Prior to the rollout of Xbox and PlayStation versions, it was earlier disclosed by Maximum Entertainment that Squirrel with a Gun would make its debut on PC, available for purchase through Steam and the Epic Games Store on August 19, 2024.

As a longtime gaming enthusiast who’s played countless titles across various genres, I must say that this week’s hands-on experience with Squirrel with a Gun has solidified its place as yet another Indie gem worth adding to my collection. After having spent several hours immersed in the game’s unique world and engaging mechanics, it’s clear that Squirrel with a Gun deserves to be hailed as an “Indie Must Buy.”

The latest preview unveils the primary goal of the open-world game – amass as many golden acorns as you can using whatever methods you prefer.

Earlier this month, the devs shared a post-release roadmap on the official Steam page, including content coming through August 2025. This September, the game will add a Photo Mode. A new Super Platforming Challenge level and a new rival are both coming in December 2024.

Some enthusiasts liken Squirrel in a Nutshell to the fast-paced sandbox action of upcoming titles such as Goat Simulator 3 by Coffee Stain, which recently unveiled their Remastered edition at Gamescom.
