The game titled “Black Myth: Wukong” is a highly anticipated project, often seen as the initial AAA video game originating from China, and justifiably so. Although it may not provide extensive exploration or a multitude of weapons similar to “Elden Ring“, it certainly makes up for it with an overwhelming number of boss battles. This walkthrough contains spoilers, so players should proceed with caution.

Reaching Forest of Wolves Region

Black Myth: Wukong - Forest of Wolves Walkthrough

As soon as I dive into the game world, I’m greeted with an extensive cinematic introduction that sets the stage for our encounter. The curtain then lifts to reveal my first battle against none other than Erland, The Sacred Divinity. Fear not, even though he boasts a diverse arsenal of attacks and an impressive health reserve, this initial duel is winnable. Here’s the catch – death doesn’t apply in this skirmish, so let’s show him what we’re made of!

Following his defeat, a new cutscene will unfold, and you’ll be immersed directly into the game’s opening chapter, titled “Black Cloud, Red Fire”. This chapter is set within the Black Wind Mountain region, more specifically, the Wolf Forest sub-region.

Reaching First Keeper’s Shrine

Begin by overcoming the two adversaries directly in front of you. Since this is the training zone, feel free to explore and get comfortable with the controls. Once they’re defeated, carry on through the straightforward path, vanquishing any foes that approach. Over time, you’ll discover a treasure chest – open it to obtain its contents.

As you progress, you’ll spot a shimmering beam of light leading your way. Stick to it to find your initial Keeper’s Sanctuary. Upon approaching, you’ll be drawn to it (later on, interacting with Keeper’s Sanctuaries will require your action). Following a short scene, you’ll obtain the Incense Path Talisman.

If you have pre-ordered Black Myth: Wukong or bought the Deluxe Edition, visit the Shrine once more, then find the Trailblazer’s Gift section, and collect any bonus content waiting for you. Don’t forget to check out the Equipment tab to put on your new items.

Reaching and Defeating the First Boss — Bullguard

Progress ahead, vanquishing adversaries and collecting plants as you go. Eventually, you’ll come across your initial formidable opponent, the Bullguard. Instead of assaulting him right away, veer left where you’ll spot a creature hiding near a boulder (it will scamper off when it sees you). Approach the rock to obtain the Skandha of Form, an essential item that will prove handy later on.

Following the acquisition of the Form Skandha, refocus your gaze on the Bullguard and prepare for combat. Overpower him by skillfully dodging his massive axe and retaliating with strategic counterattacks. Throughout the battle, a cutscene will unfold, rewarding you with the Immobilize Spell.

First Meditation Spot and Second Keeper’s Shrine

Keep going on the path leading from the boss’s location, and stick to the trail as it takes you. If any foes cross your path, be prepared to fight them off. You’ll eventually stumble upon a place suitable for meditation – this is the initial Meditation Point in the Black Wind Mountain territory.

Once you’ve completed your meditation, spin around and take the trail that winds between the rocks. You’ll find another Keeper’s Sanctuary ahead. Remember to engage with it and take a break to refill your health, magic, and healing item, the Gourd.

You can now use the Keeper’s Shrine to fast travel between previously activated Shrines.

Reaching and Defeating the Second Boss — Guangzhi

Following a short cinematic sequence, you’ll metamorphose into a radiant Cicada. Use this new form to navigate past obstacles and move forward until you come across a turquoise-colored boss. For now, avoid engaging it in combat; instead, opt for the left path until you arrive at a Torii Gate. If you find yourself struggling to locate it, revert back to your standard form and search the surroundings until you do.

Stepping through the gate will lead to another sequence and start a fight against your next adversary, Guangzhi – the formidable second boss in your adventure. Be prepared for a challenge, as he might require multiple attempts before you manage to defeat him. Persevere until success!

Avoid his fiery staff attacks, and if you catch fire, dodge repeatedly to extinguish it.

After successfully overpowering the boss, you’ll receive the Red Tiles Spell as a reward for your efforts. Subsequently, approach the colossal bell that stands before you – this is one of the three bells essential for ringing in the Black Cloud, Red Fire chapter. Doing so will help you uncover a hidden secret.

Defeating Wandering Wight and Reaching Guanyin Temple

After vanquishing Guangzhi and claiming the mighty Red Tiles Spell, it’s time to revisit the formidable adversary I encountered earlier, the spectral Wandering Wight, who looms turquoise in color. This fellow will undoubtedly be the most daunting foe I’ve faced thus far. I can choose between two paths: bravely engaging this optional yet challenging boss or prudently circumventing him by passing him by. While it’s wise to opt for the latter, feel free to give him a few practice rounds if the spirit moves you – there’s no repercussion for falling in battle.

Whichever option you choose, make your way through the door and follow the wooden path until you reach Guanyin Temple. Interact with the Keeper’s Shrine here and be sure to rest again. You will now unlock the Craft Armor feature. Craft the Pilgrim’s Headband, as it will allow you to heal while sprinting. If you have enough resources, craft the entire Pilgrim’s Set. Now it’s time to equip the set and continue your journey.

Defeating Final Boss of Forest of Wolves Region — Lingxuzi

1. Ransack the courtyard, making sure to gather everything, especially the chest, before proceeding through the gate ahead. At the other side, brace yourself for a battle against Lingxuzi, the colossal wolf-like boss of this subregion. Given its size and strength, it’s probable that you’ll need to fight it several times before managing to defeat it on your first try.

1) Be cautious of his bounding assaults and scratch attacks at the beginning of the battle. Start by casting the Immobilize spell to immobilize him, then change into Guangzhi using the Red Tiles spell for an opportunity to inflict significant damage in the initial phase.

If you can inflict the fire status on him, it will deal continuous damage over time.

Whenever the Immobilize Spell is off cooldown, use it repeatedly and then launch aggressive attacks against Lingxuzi. Despite not being the most difficult boss in Black Myth: Wukong, he may require multiple attempts to defeat. After defeating him, you’ll receive the Grey Wolf Mask as a reward, along with a Mind Core, an essential upgrade material.

Finishing Up the Forest of Wolves Region

1. Make sure to venture into the next garden square and gather all items you come across. You’ll discover another treasure chest here – open it and move on. Upon entering the following chamber, look to your left to find a colossal statue. Interact with its altar to obtain the Celestial Jade Lotus Pill, a special collectible item that will automatically boost and permanently maintain your health. Be careful not to overlook this valuable item as the path ahead is expected to grow more difficult.

You’re welcome to come back and give it another shot at overcoming the Roaming Revenant, should you not have done so yet. If it proves too challenging for you now, consider returning again once you’ve grown stronger.

Once you’ve obtained the Lotus Talisman, make your way out of the structure and approach the Keeper’s Altar that lies ahead. Great job! You’ve successfully entered a new area in Chapter 1, which goes by the name The Bamboo Sanctuary.
