Pokemon Fans Have New Theory for Legends: Z-A Starters, But It's Odd

Key Takeaways

  • A Pokemon Legends: Z-A fan has theorized that the game’s starters may be Totodile, Turtwig, and Litten.
  • However, their evidence for theory is a TCG Advent calendar from 2022, so players shouldn’t be too confident in it being true.
  • The game will be set in the Kalos Region and follow a similar gameplay format to Pokemon Legends: Arceus, with a 2025 release date.

As a seasoned Pokémon enthusiast with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that I find this theory intriguing, even if it’s based on an Advent calendar from last year! The idea of having Totodile, Turtwig, and Litten as starters for Pokémon Legends: Z-A would certainly add a unique twist to the series, especially considering their diverse types.

One dedicated Pokémon enthusiast believes they might have unraveled the starter Pokémons for the upcoming game Pokemon Legends: Z-A. As the second installment in the Legends spinoff series, Pokemon Legends: Z-A is scheduled for a 2025 launch, but there remains a great deal of enigma concerning it.

In February 2024, during a Pokemon Presents event, it was officially revealed that the next Nintendo Switch game is slated to be the final installment. From the outset, it’s been understood that this new title will take place in the Kalos Region and share a similar gameplay style with Pokemon Legends: Arceus. However, since then, fans have been left to speculate about many aspects of the game, such as identifying potential starters for Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

One fan believes they’ve figured out those starters, and they found them in an Advent calendar, of all places. The Pokemon TCG Holiday Calendar was released on August 23, containing a variety of fun surprises to open over the course of December, including seven three-card Fun Packs for the Pokemon Trading Card Game. One Reddit user claims to have purchased and already opened their Advent calendar and has reported that the cover of the Fun Packs feature images of Gen-2 Water starter Totodile, Gen-4 Grass starter Turtwig, and Gen-7 Fire Starter Litten. These three Pokemon, they claim, will be the starters for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and they’ve shared some interesting context for that theory.

Pokemon Legends Z-A Starters May Be Totodile, Turtwig, and Litten

In contrast to regular booster packs that usually contain ten cards each, Three-card Fun Packs aren’t common in the trading card game. A Pokemon fan found an exception, the Astral Radiance Fun Packs, which displayed Rowlet, Oshawatt, and Cyndaquil on their cover. Interestingly, these three Pokemon were starters in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, a game released before the Astral Radiance card line came out on May 27, 2022. Hence, they had a valid reason to appear together in the Fun Pack. Also worth mentioning, the first Pokemon TCG Advent calendar was launched during the 2022 holiday season, making Pokemon Legends: Arceus an earlier release.

The Pokemon chosen for the upcoming journey with players are generating excitement among fans, who eagerly await the resumption of the Legend series. As they try to predict the starting Pokemon, it’s important to acknowledge that this isn’t the only enigma surrounding the game. Many are still speculating about the potential release date for “Pokemon Legends: Z-A”.
