After 100 Hours in ARC Raiders, I Still Haven’t Encountered One of Its Most ‘Common’ Annoyances

I never thought I’d get this invested, but I’ve already played ARC Raiders for 100 hours! That really says something, especially considering I also played Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 this year. I know some people have played even more, but coming from someone who wasn’t a big fan of this type of shooter, 100 hours is a huge milestone. I’m fully prepared for my first Expedition – I’ve collected all the necessary gear, maxed out my Workshop, and even leveled up Scrappy completely. Now I’m focused on finding the remaining blueprints and gathering valuable items to boost my skills for the next raid.

I know I’m not the only one who’s really gotten into ARC Raiders – it’s been incredibly popular lately, and I’ve already put over 100 hours into it. But even with all that playtime, I haven’t experienced a problem that a lot of other players are complaining about. They’re posting online about it constantly, and some have even stopped playing because of it. It’s strange, because after 100 hours, I haven’t run into it at all.

Even After 100 Hours in ARC Raiders, I Have Never Encountered an Extraction Camper

You read that right: after spending 100 hours playing ARC Raiders, I’ve never run into anyone intentionally blocking players from leaving the map – something I’ve seen a lot of complaints about online. It’s strange, because so many people seem to dislike the game specifically because of these ‘extraction campers.’ I’m not sure why I haven’t experienced it – maybe I’ve just been lucky? Perhaps playing on PC, which some tests suggest has a more positive player base, is the reason? Or am I just having a completely different experience with the game?

I’m probably tempting fate by saying this, but now that I’ve admitted I’ve never encountered a player who’s been fully extracted in ARC Raiders, I’m sure it’s going to happen. It’s like the golden rule of nap time – don’t mention how long your kid’s been asleep, or they’ll wake up! I’m expecting that the next time I try to extract, someone will be waiting to take all my hard-earned loot. But honestly, I’m looking forward to it – I want to experience firsthand what so many other players have been struggling with.

Many players, like one Reddit user named TheExodius, strongly dislike players who camp – they consider them the worst kind of teammate in Arc Raiders. I completely agree – camping in any multiplayer game is frustrating. It stops the action, ruins the pace, and relies on others to do all the work so the camper can easily finish things off. It’s unsportsmanlike, dull, and nobody likes being taken advantage of. However, Arc Raiders is all about taking risks, so this behavior feels especially out of place.

Some players on forums for ARC Raiders are really frustrated with a tactic called “extraction camping,” saying it’s ruining the game for them. However, I – and others – haven’t actually run into this problem ourselves. In fact, several people on Reddit have said the same thing – they’ve never been targeted by extraction campers.

I sympathize with players who are targeted by campers waiting at the extraction point, but I personally haven’t run into that situation yet. I’m sure I’ll understand the frustration when it finally happens to me, but until then, I can only feel bad for those who have already experienced it in ARC Raiders.

Maybe Playing ARC Raiders Solo Is the Best Way to Avoid Extraction Campers

I mostly play ARC Raiders by myself, and that’s probably why I haven’t encountered players who camp at extraction points. When I first tried playing with a team, there was a lot more player-versus-player combat, and it seemed to draw in more competitive people. But when I play solo, I’ve found that players tend to focus more on the environment and the game’s challenges. Even when they have shot at me, they don’t seem to want to pursue a fight. Or maybe I just come across as intimidating enough that they don’t want to risk it!

I think that explains why I haven’t really experienced players camping to steal loot in ARC Raiders. The closest I’ve seen to that is someone shooting at me as I was getting into the extraction elevator. But it didn’t bother me because I knew they couldn’t finish me off and take anything before the elevator left. They even waited until we started the extraction to shoot, so it felt more like playful interaction than serious griefing.

I’m not denying that players are getting raided in ARC Raiders, I just haven’t personally encountered it much, despite hearing about it from others. While being raided once or even several times would be annoying, it wouldn’t ruin the game for me. I’d only start to worry if it was a widespread issue affecting many players. Until then, I’ll keep playing.
