Hypixel Studios has announced how modding will work in Hytale, making it simpler for players to join servers that have modifications enabled.
Good news for Hytale fans! After Riot Games cancelled the game earlier this year, the original creators at Hypixel Studios have bought back the rights and are resuming development. They’re planning to release an early access version soon and will announce the exact date next week.
As a gamer, I’m super excited to hear that modding is going to be a huge part of Hytale! It makes total sense, since the creators at Hypixel actually started with Minecraft mods themselves. They’ve said they’re making it really easy for us to find and enjoy modded content, which is awesome. It’s going to open up so many possibilities for customizing the game!
Hytale Modding Will Be Server-Side
A recent Hytale blog post explained that modding will depend on the server hosting the game. This means players will be able to join modded servers without needing to download anything extra or manage separate mod packs.
Players can download modifications to personalize their single-player experience. Importantly, the game won’t support modifications that change the game client itself, which means fewer extra downloads will be needed.
Okay, so Hytale’s modding is going to be massive. The developers are letting us access pretty much everything – blocks, items, even the way the world is created and how characters behave. The best part? It’s all driven by data and code we can actually change and play around with. It’s super open, which is awesome for anyone who likes to customize their games!
When early access begins, modders will face some restrictions because the game is still under development. Hypixel Studios has been upfront that fully releasing the game will take a considerable amount of time, and both players and modders in early access should expect to run into problems.
Modders should expect some challenges. The game currently lacks certain editing features, and some of its inner workings aren’t accessible for modification yet. The tools available for modding are still being developed and can be unreliable or difficult to use, and the overall state of mod support varies greatly.
Hypixel Studios won’t deliberately keep useful features secret from modders. In fact, they plan to make helpful tools available and improve them over time. They encourage modders and players during early access to hold them accountable and promise to be honest and open about their progress.
