In Anno 117: Pax Romana, players are faced with many choices, but early on, most don’t significantly impact the game – for example, deciding whether or not a character attends a party. Once players arrive in Albion, however, their decisions start to matter much more. A key choice governors must make involves the sacred tree in The Roots of Our Ancestors quest in Anno 117: Pax Romana.
The Roots Of Our Ancestors Quest In Anno 117 Pax Romana
The “Roots Of Our Ancestors” quest in Anno 117: Pax Romana begins by requiring you to establish a settlement on the small, wooded island located in the center of the province.
The island is located in the center of the map. If you’re having trouble finding it, look for the one with a tree clearly marked on it.
Sail there to settle on a new island in Anno 117: Pax Romana.
Next, build houses to attract 30 Waders on the island of the sacred grove.
The next part requires you to decide between two routes:
- Build Fanum if you plan to keep the tree.
- Build Bardic Hearth and Woodcutter if you wish to cut the tree.
Okay, so I figured out that if I leave the big tree alone and don’t enslave Voada’s people, she’ll actually like me! The downside? I won’t be able to get into the island’s mines, which kinda stinks, but a happy Voada might be worth it.
If you protect the tree and capture Voada’s spies, Voada will be upset, and you’ll remain locked out of the area. This is the least favorable result of all your options.
Meanwhile, if you cut the tree, Voada will be angry, but you can now build on the entire island.
Once you decide what you’re going to do, you need to collect the resources needed to proceed.
- If you build a Fanum, collect 5 Pigs for a sacrifice.
- If you’re cutting the tree, either produce 10 Beer or exchange 5 Tile to buy 5 Wine from the Procurator.
When you’re prepared, choose either the Fanum to offer the pigs as a sacrifice, or the Bardic Hearth to inspire the wood cutters.
The Scathach Arrive
If you decide to sacrifice the Pigs, stay and watch the celebrations near the sacred tree until you receive the “The Scathach Arrive” notification.
Allowing them to offer their sacrifices is the best course of action. This will improve your standing with Voada, but it will prevent you from expanding beyond the grove on the island.
If you decide to capture and hold them, your next task is to locate 5 Scathach Spies observing the grove. They’ll be a group of people dressed in red near the tree – just approach and interact with them.
Choosing this option will upset Voada, but it will preserve the tree, preventing you from building beyond it.
The Root Of The Problem
Interact with the Bardic Hearth if you choose to steel the workers’ spirits with Beer or Wine.
After that, you can choose to cut down the tree. Once the sacred grove is removed, you’ll be able to build beyond it, opening up access to the mines and land that were previously blocked.
Okay, so if I accidentally end up at the Bardic Hearth, no big deal! I can always head back to the Fanum later and still do the diplomacy thing. But honestly, don’t try to do that on purpose, because you’ll just waste your Beer or Wine, and that’s no fun!
