ARC Raiders is an extraction shooter that offers a lot of content for players. It balances both player-versus-environment (PvE) and player-versus-player (PvP) gameplay equally, which is a key reason why it’s appealing to both dedicated fans of the genre and more casual gamers.
Regardless of a player’s experience level, everyone has an equal chance to find great loot and escape with it in ARC Raiders. Here are some essential tips for both dedicated extraction shooter fans and new players to help you loot efficiently and get out quickly.
Manage Your Stamina
Stamina is More Important Than HP
Successfully gathering resources and escaping quickly demands constant movement throughout the game world. Players need to carefully monitor their stamina, as they’ll be moving non-stop. This is especially important when fighting ARC enemies, who will push your stamina to its limits and heavily punish you if you run out. For example, an ARC Rocketeer will bombard you with rockets, and repeatedly dodging will quickly deplete your stamina. A better strategy is to run in a zig-zag pattern towards the nearest cover to evade the enemy’s attacks.
You can improve the Marathon Runner and Youthful Lungs skills to use less stamina and gain more of it, respectively. These upgrades will significantly help you explore the surface world, making them some of the most valuable skills to enhance in ARC Raiders.
Put Away Your Weapon to Move Faster
Run, Forrest, Run!
As a big fan of ARC Raiders, I’ve noticed that getting around the map can be a real challenge! The areas are huge, which means it takes a while to travel between locations. And it’s not just the distance – you’ve usually got those pesky ARC flyers buzzing around, protecting everything. If an ARC Snitch or Wasp spots you, they’ll quickly call in reinforcements and you’ll be swarmed before you know it!
When running through open spaces, it’s best to put your weapon away until you reach your desired location. This allows you to move more quickly and reduces the chance of being seen by enemies.
Dodge Roll To Avoid Fall Damage
Rolling Saves The Day
Raids in ARC Raiders are unpredictable – each one plays out differently depending on how players respond to what’s happening. Sometimes, even taking a risky jump and accepting fall damage can be the best strategy. Because health is so important, and shields only offer partial protection, you should always try to keep your raider’s health bar completely full.
Players can avoid fall damage by timing their dodge roll just before landing. This also knocks enemies back further, preventing them from reacting to the fall.
Always Target Weak Spots
Hit Them Where It Hurts
In ARC Raiders, quickly gathering resources and escaping is key to avoiding fights. While you’ll inevitably encounter enemies – both AI and other players – finding cover is crucial. The fastest way to win a battle is to aim for their vulnerable areas.
Every ARC enemy has a vulnerable point – for example, the back thrusters of ARC Wasps and Hornets. Hitting these weak spots will throw them off balance, causing them to fall and explode. When fighting other players (PvP), a headshot is the fastest way to take down attackers.
Craft During Raids
It’s Called A Backpack For a Reason
In ARC Raiders, carrying too many healing items can be risky. If a player falls while carrying a large amount – say, 10 – those items become available to others. Because of this, most players choose to venture out with a smaller supply of healing and shield items.
To best handle this, unlock the Crafting Skill in the Skill Tree. This lets you make healing items while you’re in raids. Just focus on gathering the necessary materials – for example, collect Fabric to craft Bandages. You can also improve your healing options by upgrading the Traveling Tinkerer, which will help you survive in ARC Raiders.
Always Have Hatch Keys
There Should Always Be A Plan B
In ARC Raiders, each match has a time limit while you search for loot. As time runs out, the escape routes will start to close. And, as with any game where you’re trying to escape with valuable items, you’ll likely encounter players who will try to ambush you near those escape points and steal what you’ve collected.
If you’re planning a challenging run, especially with teammates, always bring a Hatch Key. It can save you a lot of trouble, like having to run across the entire map to reach an extraction point. With a Hatch Key, you can quickly and safely extract at the nearest Hatch.
Be Ready For PVP and PVE
ARCs Aren’t the Only Enemy
What makes games like ARC Raiders exciting is the constant threat of danger, coming from both the ARCs themselves and other players. It’s important to be ready for both, because the strategies you use to defeat ARCs might not be enough to win in player-versus-player combat.
To succeed in player-versus-player (PVP) combat, focus on weapons that deal quick, high damage, such as rapid-fire SMGs or powerful shotguns. However, the standard ammo used by these weapons doesn’t do much against armored enemies (ARC). To effectively fight ARC enemies, you’ll need heavier weapons like Ferro or Bettina, and a generous supply of explosives.
Prioritize High Value Loot Areas
Higher Risk, Bigger Rewards
Okay, so as a gamer, I’ve learned that you really need to get out of a level after your backpack’s full or you snag something awesome. To make it worth it, I always head for the spots known for good loot. And honestly? If I see a key, I have to use it. Locked doors almost always hide the best stuff!
You can improve the Security Breach skill to open locked security lockers. These lockers are usually in the best areas for finding loot, making them popular spots for players. Expect competition and potential fights when trying to access them.
Use Utilities
Gain Tactical Advantage
Although ARC Raiders is primarily a shooting game, it also features strategic elements that reward skillful players. In player-versus-player combat, using helpful items can give you an unexpected advantage over opponents.
Players can strategically use obstacles to temporarily hold back enemies, giving their team time to heal and get ready to fight again. Smoke grenades create cover, letting a player escape if they’re being attacked. They can also use helpful items to get better gear – for example, Ziplines can help reach rooftops with valuable loot, and Adrenaline shots allow for faster movement around the map, giving them an edge over other players.
You Can Extract Even After Falling
Crawl Your Way Out
Considering how difficult ARC Raiders can be, it’s surprisingly forgiving. Players can safely grab all their collected items and escape even after being defeated. This makes tense, timed extractions easier, especially when enemies are nearby. You can rush into the chaos, wait for the ship, and even if robots knock you down, they won’t completely eliminate you.
Naturally, things play out differently when facing other raiders – they aren’t likely to be forgiving after being shot. Luckily, raiders can use their Hatch keys to escape through Hatch extraction points, which adds another layer to the gameplay.
