As a long-time Call of Duty enthusiast with countless hours spent in the virtual battlefields of Treyarch’s masterpieces, I must admit my disappointment at the lack of campaign early access for Black Ops 6. The joy of diving into a new storyline before the masses, a privilege I have enjoyed since Modern Warfare 2 and 3, seems to be slipping away.
For the previous two years, Call of Duty allowed players early access to its campaign. However, it seems that this won’t be the practice for Black Ops 6.
On October 25th, BO6 makes a return with beloved Treyarch multiplayer and Zombies modes, reconnecting players with cherished characters such as Woods and Adler in the campaign.
Despite Treyarch’s campaigns often being highly appreciated, it’s really the Zombies and multiplayer modes that are likely to keep gamers engaged throughout the year. That’s why the early access periods for the campaign were particularly appreciated – players could immerse themselves in the entire story without the concern of lagging behind in multiplayer competition.
Does BO6 have campaign early access?
Initially, following the inclusion of single-player modes in MW2 and MW3, fans anticipated that Black Ops 6 would offer this feature early for Vault Edition buyers at launch. However, as the release date draws nearer, it seems increasingly improbable.
ActivisionEarly access isn’t mentioned in the Vault Edition bonuses.In the last few years, early access to campaigns has played a crucial role in game marketing, often unveiled together with the games and their versions. However, this week, when the beta version is set to launch, we haven’t received any announcement at all about early access.
As a dedicated gamer, I’m pretty sure that if this game was releasing this year, they would’ve hyped it up and pushed us towards the Vault Edition by now. So, unless there’s some shocking announcement during the Call of Duty Next event on August 28th, it looks like we might have to wait a bit longer for its release.
Some are hopeful that there will be early access for Zombies, but unless it also gets a surprise reveal at CoD Next, it seems equally as unlikely. Treyarch have already denied it, and if pre-ordering or buying the Vault Edition gave early access to Zombies, you’d imagine that would have been marketed from the very beginning.
As a gamer, I’m pretty sure that Call of Duty is coming back to its classic format on October 25. On launch day, I’ll be faced with a tough choice: diving into the campaign, joining multiplayer battles, or jumping straight into the zombie-infested maps of Terminus and Liberty Falls first. The decision won’t be easy!
