As someone who’s been following Dota 2 since its inception and has spent countless hours in-game, I can’t help but feel excited about Samsung’s latest venture into the world of esports – the Odyssey Cup Dota 2 Championship. With a $20,000 prize pool and a brand-new gaming monitor on the line, this tournament is sure to bring out the best in players from Southeast Asia and Oceanic servers.
Samsung Electronics has formally declared an extensive Dota 2 competition known as the Odyssey Cup Dota 2 Championship. This significant gaming event will unfold across Southeast Asian and Oceanic game servers, culminating in the Grand Finals which will be hosted in Melaka, Malaysia.
Samsung Announces Dota 2 Odyssey Cup
Samsung, known as a pioneer in electronic technology, is channeling part of its energy towards boosting the realm of esports. Notably, with Dota 2 being one of the most popular competitive games globally, this tournament represents a significant milestone for Samsung and the game itself.
Over a prize fund of $20,000, competitors can battle it out throughout the months of September and October, aiming to secure their spot at the final event, the Grand Finals.
Two Southeast Asian qualifying tournaments are scheduled, each hosting six teams hailing from Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. This results in a grand total of twelve Southeast Asian teams participating.
Two squads, one each from New Zealand and Australia, will have an opportunity to participate. The qualifying rounds are scheduled for the period between September 21st and 25th.
Following the preliminary rounds, the qualifying teams will go head-to-head with four specially invited professional squads. The victors from this stage will progress towards the Grand Finals. This part of the competition is scheduled for September 28-29.
Grand Finals will take place from October 10-13 in Malaysia.

Samsung To Host $20,000 Dota 2 Cup Centered Around New Gaming Monitor
As a gamer myself, I’m super excited about Samsung’s strategy for this major tournament series – they’re using it as an opportunity to showcase their latest gaming marvel, the 32-inch Odyssey G8 OLED monitor! This bad boy can crank up to an incredible 240Hz refresh rate and boasts a blazing fast response time of just 0.03 seconds. That makes it one heck of a contender among top-tier gaming monitors out there.
Samsung’s devotion towards esports is duly noted, with hopes that more companies follow suit.
