Spiders Developers To Strike Over Mismanagement

As a dedicated fan who’s followed Greedfall and Spiders Studio since their early days, it’s disheartening to see such turmoil behind the scenes. It seems like the developers are facing challenges that go beyond just creating immersive gaming worlds. The allegations of mismanagement, low wages, and lack of transparency are concerning. I can only imagine the frustration they must feel when their passion for crafting captivating narratives clashes with the reality of their working conditions.

Workers at the French game development studio, Spiders, plan to go on a labor action due to allegations of poor management, instability, high staff turnover, among other issues. This protest is scheduled for September 2nd and 3rd.

On Tuesday, representatives from the team responsible for creating Greedfall released an explanatory document spanning twenty pages, detailing their reasons for going on strike. The paper was signed by 44 out of the 95 staff members and highlights a series of issues that have been ongoing for several years.

Today, we feel compelled to express our concerns openly, hoping that our words may spur management towards actions that benefit both employees and the company. This is what the letter communicates.

Among the concerns raised by studio staff are:

“Even though I’ve been trained in management for a long time across various avenues, issues are often overlooked or, even more frustratingly, their presence is not only disregarded but also openly challenged and disputed,” they expressed.

Over the past year, the current head of the company’s arrival has significantly intensified the existing issues, as mentioned by the employees.

“The letter stated that we requested Anne Devouassoux, the company head, to meet with a group of Spiders’ employees to address various issues. She agreed, but on August 27th, the meeting took place, and afterward, we were left waiting for management’s attendance, which unfortunately never materialized.”

The recent attack is similar to one that occurred in January. Additionally, there have been formal letters written to the company’s leadership, which they are said to have disregarded.
