Smite 2: How The Laning System Works

Smite 2: How The Laning System Works

As a seasoned gamer with decades of MOBA experience under my belt, I must say that Smite 2 has truly piqued my interest. Having dabbled in the original Smite and other games of its ilk, I can appreciate the refinements and improvements that have been made to the gameplay mechanics, particularly the laning system.

In simpler terms, “Smite 2” is a third-person Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game that has undergone several Alpha Playtests, the latest one being a continuous, round-the-clock Closed Alpha test available for play every day of the week. In “Smite 2”, players have the opportunity to experiment with any of the 23 deities. Each deity comes equipped with unique abilities or kits, enabling players to use them in various roles or positions on the battlefield.

Navigating through Smite 2 significantly impacts your ability to conquer opponents and emerge victorious in a match. Similar to its predecessor, it employs the same gameplay system, giving seasoned Smite 1 players an upper hand against novices.

All Lanes In Smite 2

Smite 2: How The Laning System Works

There are three lanes in Smite 2, and understanding the role of each lane can be your path to victory. For new players, choosing which role they are best suited to can be challenging, so it is best to try out all the gods and stick with the one that suits their playstyle. Even though you can play most Gods in any lane, most have designated roles in which they shine more. The roles are the same as they were in Smite 1, so many players will have a good understanding of how they work. The Arena in Smite is extensive, and each team comprises five players. There are two lanes on each side and a lane in the middle.

Solo Lane

This is the smallest lane of three because of the shorter distance between the two towers. Now, depending on whether you get an orange side or blue, it can be difficult to spot which is which early on. An easy way to do this is by checking the map and seeing where the Fire Giant is located. This is marked by a large red-ish circle on one side. Solo Lane is for tank or Bruiser gods that can defend the Towers and aid the Jungle if needed.

Duo Lane

The lane labeled as Duo Lane is situated opposite Solo Lane and appears larger. It’s hard to miss due to a Gold Fury nearby. As its name implies, this lane caters to two players – the Carry and the Support. Typically, the Carry is an auto-attacking hunter who equips items that boost critical damage to tackle tanks. Meanwhile, the Support can act as an initiator tank, launching fights with the enemy team, or serve to protect the ally Carry from harm.

Mid Lane

Ultimately, it’s in the Middle Path where a significant amount of combat takes place. This route is primarily populated by Mages who specialize in dealing burst damage and vying for mid-field control. The distance between the towers and the Phoenix is relatively small, making this area crucial. The Mid Path also serves as a gateway to the Jungle from both sides, enabling the Jungler to ambush the middle path user from any direction, providing an advantage to the allied Midlaner.

What Is The Importance of The Jungle

In Smite, The Jungler is an exclusive role that stands out among the others, as it doesn’t begin in any specific lane. Instead, it ventures into the Jungle, where it harvests resources from the Jungle Camps. These jungle camps yield various useful buffs for different Gods and roles during different stages of the game. Each jungle camp has a unique appearance, making it easy for players to identify the type of buff each provides. Since the Jungle connects to all lanes, this allows the Jungler to move between different lanes, offering assistance to their team and gaining free kills that can boost their power over time.

Beyond just executing ganks, the Jungle role also involves collaborating with laners and instigating attempts at Gold Fury and Fire Giant, powerful entities that provide game-changing buffs during battles. Capturing the Gold Fury thrice grants three distinct advantages, eventually evolving into the Ancient Fury.
