How to Get the Power Module in Star Wars (Destroy Rock Walls)

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent navigating through the labyrinthine worlds of metroidvanias and the galaxy far, far away, I must say that Star Wars Outlaws has truly captured my heart with its intricate attention to detail. The destructible rock walls scattered across the game’s various landscapes, hiding treasures both mundane and vital, have added a layer of exploration that I find utterly engaging.

When engaging with Star Wars Outlaws, players might be delighted to discover the amount of thought and craftsmanship put into building the game’s environment. Beyond the iconic props that Star Wars is famous for, Massive Studios added intriguing metroidvania aspects, offering an enticing reason to revisit locations you’ve been before. One of the initial metroidvania elements unveiled are the walls adorned with moss, adding a new layer of exploration to your journey.

In the game Star Wars Outlaws, you’ll encounter rock walls that can be demolished in various locations. These walls conceal a range of items, from basic crafting resources, to crucial elements for side-quests. Unfortunately, the game doesn’t provide much information about these destructible walls, particularly at the beginning. This guide will show you how to destroy rock walls in Star Wars Outlaws and when it’s possible to do so.

Special items in Star Wars Outlaws are generally received in one of two ways:

  • Abilities: Outlaws utilizes a unique ability system, which does not rely on the typical skill point/skill tree mechanic that has become ubiquitous across most modern action-adventure and actin-RPG games. Here, Kay must discover and unlock various Experts, all of which provide access to a special list of six abilities. Most of Kay’s unique tools, like SWO’s Electro-Shock Prod, are found this way.
  • Upgrades and Modules: Kay will also gradually gain access to a variety of upgrades to her equipment, most notably her Blaster. Kay’s trusty sidearm has a variety of modules that, when unlocked, will not only make combat easier, but will usually include a function that affects exploration.

Several key tools, such as the Fusioncutter and Holotracker, are consistently present throughout the narrative. These tools will become accessible as you progress through the main plot without requiring any additional action on your part.

The Power Module for Kay’s Blaster

In this scenario, removing the lichen-encrusted stones in Star Wars Outlaws can be achieved using a Blaster module. More precisely, it’s the Power Module that enables Kay to fire an explosive projectile. This feature is particularly useful against tough enemies during battles, but its primary utility for exploration lies in its capacity to blast through rock barriers.

To start off, it’s crucial to point out that this particular module isn’t available for collection in any known area. Instead, and unlike acquiring something through travel, this module is bestowed upon Kay Vess by ND-5. This event transpires following a significant plot development, as the Power module is intended for use within a subsequent quest.

Complete the ‘Safecracker’ Mission:

To access the Power Module, make your way to Kijimi first and initiate the “Safecracker” series of quests. There, you’ll encounter a web of political tension between the Ashiga clan’s queen and her daughter Krisk, who is associated with Crimson Dawn. Amidst this power struggle, Kay comes seeking Ank, the safecracker recommended by Jaylen, to enlist his services.

1st Mission completion along the questline forces Kay into a challenging choice: remain and aid Ank, or seek another safe cracker. This preludes the mission titled ‘Breakout,’ where acquiring the Power Module is crucial. Post the ‘Safe-cracker’ mission, ND-5 contacts Kay, requesting her return to the ship. This initiates a short quest known as ‘Gunsmith.’

Upon your return to the ship, ND-5 interacts with Kay, passing on to her the Power Capacitor, an essential item that allows her to activate a new Power module for her blaster. Once you utilize the workbench, it will become apparent that you’ve enabled the first function of this new Power module, which is called Bolt. Finish this segment to finish the “Gunsmith” mission.

Once you’ve installed the Power module, you’re ready to revisit the mossy stones on Toshara, blast them apart, and discover what lies beneath.

  • To use the Power Module, hold down Y/Triangle instead of tapping it. You’ll engage the Bolt function (or whichever function you have installed). Simply aim and shoot the mossy rock walls and boulders.
