Skate Season 2 Will Introduce a Co-Op Mode, New Areas to Skate and More

The second season of Skate will launch on December 2, 2025, and it’s bringing exciting new features like a co-op mode and fresh locations to explore.

While EA’s Skate hasn’t gotten as much attention since it launched, the developers are planning a big Season 2 to bring players back. This new season, lasting until March 3, 2026, will add a ton of fresh content, including new places to skate, challenges, events, tricks, customizable items, features, and game modes.

Skate Season 2 Co-Op Mode and New Skateable Areas

Skate’s second season, ‘Future Radical,’ throws players back to the 1980s with a vibrant theme of neon, arcades, and the clash between punk and pop culture. The update focuses on letting players enjoy the decade together, introducing both co-op gameplay and Party Voice Chat. Players can now explore new locations with friends, including the Casper Hotel Rooftop, Eelside Tunnel, the Museum of Natural History Roof Patio, and the Canal Building.

Skate Season 2 New Features, Improvements, Modes, and Rewards

Season 2 will bring exciting updates, including enhanced visuals for the game world, the introduction of customizable characters, and improvements to pedestrian activity. Players can also expect three new hairstyles, two new facial hair styles, and more things to do in San Van with the addition of new Challenges and Missions.

Skate’s new ‘Own the Lot’ mode is a throwback to a fan-favorite from previous games. Players will race against the clock to complete as many challenges—called Reqs—as they can. Success depends on teamwork and communication, as players need to work together to finish everything.

Teams of one to four players will compete, but completing all the challenges within the 2-5 minute time limit is much easier with at least two players. Here’s what you can earn as a reward in this mode:

  • Nailed It: Complete five or more Reqs – Reward: 20 Tix
  • Owned It: Complete 10 or more Reqs – Reward: 30 Tix
  • Crushed It: Complete 15 or more Reqs – Reward: 40 Tix
  • Killed It: Complete 25 or more Reqs – Reward: 55 Tix
  • Shut it Down: Complete 40 or more Reqs – Reward: 70 Tix

New Skate Tricks in Season 2

Okay, so the new season is dropping some seriously cool stuff! We’re finally getting Impossibles in the game, which I’ve been waiting for! Plus, they’ve totally revamped and added more options for handplants. They’ve got a bunch of new flip tricks and handplant variations, and you can check them all out below!

Flip Tricks:

  • Impossible Flips
  • Front Foot Impossible Flips
  • Nollie Impossible Flips
  • Nollie Back Foot Impossible Flips
  • All Impossible Flips can also be performed as Held, Late, and from Grinds and Manuals.

Handplant Tricks

  • Expanding from 2 to 16 total Handplant Variants.
  • Handplants, including One-Foot, No-Foot, and Tweaked Handplants, can also be performed Fakie.
  • Handplants can now be held for different durations based on how long you hold the input.
  • Multiple Handplant variants can now be chained back-to-back within the same plant.

Replay Editor Improvements, New Settings, and Gameplay Improvements

The Replay Editor now features an Advanced Editor Mode with more precise tools for trimming, adding keyframes, smoothly transitioning between camera views, and adjusting camera angles—including roll, tilt, and offset. We’re continuing to improve the Replay Editor, and the new season will also introduce new settings and gameplay enhancements. See details below.

New Settings

  • Hold Fakie Push: If you already liked the hold fakie setting, you’re going to love holding it even after pushing. (How to find it: Settings > Gameplay > Controls)
  • Grind Lean Exit:  You can now optionally turn these off to make it easier to get some deep and stylish grind leans without accidentally leaving the grind (How to find it: Settings > Gameplay > Trick Toggles)
  • Maximum Pump Strength: Allows you to control the maximum speed gained from pumping via the Assists menu. Go to Settings > Gameplay > Assists
  • Compass on HUD:  You can now hide the Compass by going to Settings > General > Interface

Gameplay Improvements

  • Expanded Drop-In Functionality
    • Drop-Ins now work in more situations. Even very tall vertical walls.
    • Transitions from Drop-In to air now look and feel better.
