Area 99 Revealed As New Resurgence Map In Warzone At CODNext Event

As a seasoned Call of Duty gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that Activision’s reveal at CODNext was nothing short of exhilarating! The unveiling of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Warzone map Area 99 based on the iconic Nuketown has me buzzing like a kid on Christmas morning.

On Wednesday afternoon, Activision unveiled a comprehensive look at Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 during its CODNext event, showcasing multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone to players. Of particular interest was the debut of the brand-new Warzone map, Area 99, which will make its appearance later this year, accompanied by exciting new features for the mode.

Area 99 And New Warzone Features

The recently introduced “Area 99” in Warzone draws inspiration from the historical backdrop of the iconic “Nuketown” map, which first appeared in the initial Call of Duty: Black Ops release back in 2010.

In Area 99, you’ll find ten primary sections. The central section is designated as the Reactor zone, with nine other areas arranged in a circular pattern surrounding it.

Beyond the freshly introduced map, Warzone is set to receive several new elements towards the end of this year. The initial batch of these updates includes the introduction of Omnimovement from Season 1 onwards.

Here are some key points regarding this year’s gameplay: Backpacks won’t be included, there will be a tactical sprint option when using knives, wildcard characters like Gunfighter and Overkill are in play, and both the Guardian and Mosquito Drone have been eliminated.

Regarding perks, there will be six available in ground loot with season 1. Those six perks include:

Dexterity
Tracker
Cold Blooded
Tempered
Alertness
Specialist
