ARC Raiders Players Want The Opposite of Stella Montis for Its Next Map

Many players of ARC Raiders are asking Embark Studios to design the next map differently from Stella Montis. They’d prefer more opportunities to fight computer-controlled enemies (PvE) and a greater number of ARC enemies overall. The debate about the balance between player-versus-player (PvP) and player-versus-environment (PvE) content is still ongoing weeks after the game launched, but a lot of players are now hoping for a map packed with ARC enemies, forcing teamwork to overcome the challenge.

Embark Studios plans to support their new game, ARC Raiders, for ten years, meaning players can expect a lot of new content, including maps, over time. Currently, the game features five maps, each with a different gameplay experience. Dam Battlegrounds is the easiest map, with fewer enemies compared to maps like Buried City or Blue Gate. It’s also known for being more relaxed in terms of player-versus-player combat, likely because it’s the first map new players unlock, and they need to play a few matches before accessing others.

ARC Raiders Want More PvE on the Next Map

The latest update to ARC Raiders included a new map called Stella Montis, which players unlocked by contributing resources during a community event. While Stella Montis has been well-received for its fast-paced combat, many players are now requesting something different for the next map. A popular Reddit post with over 3,000 upvotes suggests that Embark Studios create a map overrun with ARC enemies, forcing players to team up for a large-scale, cooperative PvE experience. The poster notes that Stella Montis doesn’t have enough ARC enemies and that players need a place to use their best equipment in a challenging, wave-based fight against overwhelming odds.

Many players agree with the suggestion, expressing their enjoyment of both PvP combat and this new idea, with some simply saying it would be fun. If the game developers, Embark, were to add a map like this, it would be a significant departure from Stella Montis, which was introduced in the November 13th North Line update for ARC Raiders. Stella Montis is located within a research facility built inside a mountainside in the northern mountains, creating a very different atmosphere from the game’s other maps. Its unique two-level design, with upper and lower floors, tight hallways, numerous rooms, and opportunities for vertical gameplay have made it popular for PvP fans, though not everyone enjoys the change.

Players appreciate that Stella Montis offers a different experience than games like Dam Battlegrounds, focusing less on direct player conflict. However, some feel it’s lacking in ARC enemy encounters. While no one wants the map overrun with enemies, many believe a map specifically designed with a high concentration of ARC enemies would encourage teamwork, forcing players to cooperate or be overwhelmed. This would be a great addition to the game, giving players a choice: Stella Montis for more player-versus-player action, or a dedicated map for cooperative ARC combat.

Originally, ARC Raiders was designed as a purely cooperative game, but the developers at Embark Studios shifted gears to create the player-versus-environment and player-versus-player extraction shooter it is now. While the initial concept didn’t quite work, they haven’t ruled out adding a more focused cooperative experience later on. Looking ahead, a new update called Cold Snap is planned for December. This update will introduce a Snowfall Map Condition, Flickering Flames Event, a new Raider Deck, Quests, and other additions, according to the game’s 2025 roadmap. The exact release date for the Cold Snap update is still to be announced.
