ARC Raiders is quickly becoming one of the year’s most popular games. Despite being set in a familiar post-apocalyptic, sci-fi world, it feels fresh and original. What’s really stood out to players is how much of a social experience the game offers.
Originally, the developers at Embark Studios planned for ARC Raiders to be a cooperative game where players worked together against the environment. However, they later decided to include player-versus-player (PvP) combat. This addition adds a layer of risk and excitement, as encountering another player could lead to either helpful assistance or a quick defeat. It’s difficult to picture ARC Raiders without PvP now, but Embark Studios likely didn’t anticipate it would spark such a competitive reaction among streamers.

A simple disagreement between streamers TheBurntPeanut and HutchFM quickly escalated into a major conflict. The trouble began when HutchFM was unexpectedly killed during a stream by another player who referenced TheBurntPeanut, declaring it was revenge. This sparked a large-scale feud, known as the Battle of Speranza, causing players of ARC Raiders to turn against each other based on who they supported. The conflict recently reached its peak over the weekend.
A “Bungulator” is what fans call a player who supports TheBurntPeanut, and it’s now the official name for that group of players.
The Bungulators and Team HutchFM Are Officially Formed
As the rivalry between The Bungulators and TeamHutchFM grew, both groups became more structured. They even designed in-game uniforms to clearly identify team members and created a map to coordinate their efforts. While ARC Raiders has skins that hint at how players might act, the conflict known as the Battle of Speranza went much further in terms of organized team identity.

The costumes used during the event sadly led to some innocent players being mistakenly targeted and eliminated, as they happened to be wearing similar outfits to those involved in the conflict. While the streamer war drew a large crowd, many players were unaware of what was happening, causing confusion. The ARC Raiders community is usually very helpful, so seeing players fight each other was upsetting. Though the event caused some problems, it didn’t last long. Before it could end, TheBurntPeanut and Team HutchFM needed to bring in other streamers to help.

Popular gaming streamers recently participated in a test of ARC Raiders, adding to the excitement and unpredictability of the game. While some players found the intense action a bit overwhelming, many others really enjoyed immersing themselves in the game’s world and creating their own stories. Despite the mysteries still surrounding ARC Raiders, it’s clear the game has sparked players’ imaginations and encouraged creative role-playing, even if it gets a little wild.

The Battle of Speranza Declares a Winner
- The showdown took place on November 22, 5 PM Pacific Time on the Spaceport map.
- The Bungulators controlled the north of the map, while Team HutchFM claimed the south.
The Bungulators won the ARC Raiders competition after a tough and unpredictable match, but the announcement was surprisingly simple. After a hard-fought battle against Team HutchFM and TheBurntPeanut, the victory was declared over a Discord call – TheBurntPeanut simply announced The Bungulators’ win.
Since there was no reliable way to determine the winner, the streaming competition ended much more quietly than it began. The event significantly impacted the community, even inspiring a group called the Civilians of Speranza who advocate for peace. While TheBurntPeanut won, the playful rivalry between him and HutchFM leaves many wondering if this conflict will happen again in the future.
During the Battle of Speranza, things got pretty intense! We even saw players disguising themselves as the enemy team just to get the inside scoop – talk about dedication to winning!
ARC Raiders’ Battle of Speranza Showcases the Power of Community-Driven Events
What began as a small, hostile action against HutchFM quickly escalated into a large-scale conflict involving thousands of players. While this kind of player-driven role-playing isn’t unusual in games, it’s always impressive to see how rapidly players can unite and create their own events. Though not all ARC Raiders players enjoyed the constant stream of Bungulators and Team HutchFM supporters, the event was a brief but enjoyable break from the normal gameplay.
Though it’s only been out for a month, Embark Studios’ ARC Raiders is already proving its potential. The game has a solid foundation for years of future content and updates. As ARC Raiders develops, it will be fascinating to see how the player community finds new ways to enjoy and expand the experience.
