Core Keeper: Where to Find Tin

Core Keeper: Where to Find Tin

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours under my belt, I must say that Core Keeper has truly captured my attention and imagination. The game’s depth and complexity are a breath of fresh air in this sea of cookie-cutter indie titles. However, it’s not always sunshine and rainbows in the underworld, especially when you’re on a hunt for something as elusive as tin!

In simple terms, “Core Keeper” is an indie game with numerous aspects for players to engage with. To accomplish anything within this game, though, the player must first unlock crafting stations and then create distinctive items which aid them in various tasks.

Initially, these objects have minimal resource needs, but as they become more useful, they also grow in intricacy, demanding increasingly rare resources for construction. A key material found in numerous early-game recipes is tin, a metal easily mined from the environment by players.

What Does Tin Look Like in Core Keeper

Core Keeper: Where to Find Tin

In the depths below ground, tin naturally shines with a metallic luster. If it hasn’t been excavated, you’ll find it as small, rounded bumps embedded in clay blocks. These bumps possess a distinctive grey-silver gleam that catches the eye. Compared to copper, tin is more challenging to extract, yet it can still be obtained using a basic wooden pickaxe.

Initially, you’ll find the material as Tin Ore, an unrefined form with no immediate use. But don’t worry, players can transform it into a usable tin bar by heating it in a furnace. These tin bars are essential resources that enable players to advance from copper tools. To craft these tools, players must build the Tin Workbench first, and this workbench can only be constructed at the Copper Workbench.

Where to Obtain Tin in Core Keeper

Tin occurs naturally in the world, mostly inside clay blocks that can be mined with a wooden pickaxe. The key feature to look for is the slightly pink ground, which will usually be found near a body of water. Tin is hard to find in normal clay locations, but is abundant in the Clay Caves biome. If you can’t find tin near you, there are other ways to obtain this resource as well:

  • Buy it from the Bearded Merchant, an NPC that becomes available after defeating Glurch the Abominous Mass.
  • As a drop from wooden crates and enemies in the world.
  • By plundering clay settlements.
  • From chests scattered around the map.

As you’ll use tin extensively for most of your tasks during later stages of the game, it’s crucial to gather this resource early on and stockpile as much of it as possible whenever you locate a source.
