Black Ops 6’s “horrible” Sleeper Agent feature means you can’t even trust your teammates

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the Sleeper Agent Field Upgrade in Black Ops 6 has piqued my interest and simultaneously filled me with dread. The concept is intriguing – the element of surprise, the espionage, the potential for chaos – it all sounds like a thrilling addition to an already action-packed game.

In Black Ops 6, there are numerous Perks and Field Upgrades to help tip the scales in your favor, some of which will be demonstrated during the beta. However, one that stands out for potential mayhem is Sleeper Agent – it has the ability to make you question who’s on your side.

In contrast to Modern Warfare 3, Treyarch’s upcoming multiplayer experience promises a fresh, distinct feel. This transformation is due in part to innovative movement mechanics and weaponry, as well as the signature atmosphere that the Black Ops franchise is renowned for.

In the creation of BO6, there’s a strong influence drawn from action flicks and spy thrillers, which is evident in the latest Sleeper Agent Field Upgrade. This gadget camouflages your character among the opposing team, and with each enemy eliminated, its active period gets prolonged.

In this scenario, your name will momentarily display in a blue font over your avatar, which might lead other players to believe you’re approachable or friendly.

Following ModernWarzone’s demonstration by sharing a video, gamers didn’t take kindly to the idea that they might need to frequently look behind them.

Sleeper agents are enemies disguised as teammates. Don’t worry. There’s a perk to counter it.

One player expressed their disapproval by saying, “It’s still a poorly thought-out plan. I can’t understand why they continually include elements in the games that nobody seems to want.” Another player concurred, stating, “This is one of those ideas that might initially seem appealing, but ends up being completely flawed when implemented.”

People have also commented that encountering Sleeper Agent, who seems like an ally but suddenly opens fire, will undoubtedly provoke strong anger in others.

In essential gameplay, this feature will undoubtedly prove beneficial. However, in Hardcore mode where friendly fire is active, it might unleash chaos. The possibility of an adversary masquerading as an ally could easily result in any teammates who appear suspicious being eliminated to avoid potential danger.

Many responses to ModernWarzone’s post concurred, as one user forecasted, “Friendly fire in Hardcore mode is skyrocketing now.” (This version maintains the original meaning but rephrases it for easier reading.)

Fortunately, you can mitigate the influence of a Field Upgrade by activating the Vigilance Perk. This perk, accessible during the beta, grants immunity not only to the Sleeper Agent but also to Counter UAVs and Scramblers.
