As a seasoned World of Warcraft player with decades under my gaming belt, I must say that I am utterly astounded by Blizzard’s audacious long-term planning for the Worldsoul Saga. It’s like they’ve built a grand cathedral, and instead of just focusing on the narthex, they’re already laying the foundation for the apse!
World of Warcraft is currently in the process of outlining the entirety of the Worldsoul Saga, which is set to conclude several years down the line. Despite the recent release of The War Within – Patch 11.0, developers are already looking ahead to content as far as Patch 13.2 from The Last Titan.
At BlizzCon 2023, the epic tale known as The Worldsoul Saga was unveiled within the realm of World of Warcraft. This captivating narrative, which began with the release of The War Within, will extend across not one, but two upcoming expansions: Midnight and The Last Titan, marking their 11th and 12th instalments respectively.

Chris Metzen on the Future of World of Warcraft
Metzen provided some sneak peeks about what gamers might find in “The Last Titan”. While they’re aware that World of Warcraft is returning them to Northrend, Metzen additionally confirmed that the Sword of Sargeras storyline won’t be concluded until “The Last Titan”, hinting that fans are “not yet ready for that moment”. This statement could suggest that Illidan Stormrage might play a part, considering its similarity to his famous quote from “Burning Crusade”. Similarly, Xal’atath isn’t a villain who will be defeated in “The War Within” and instead, players should anticipate dealing with her throughout the entire storyline.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but feel my heart race with anticipation when I hear that even after wrapping up the Worldsoul Saga, Blizzard Entertainment has been brainstorming ideas and concepts for World of Warcraft expansions all the way up to number 16! It’s evident that The Last Titan won’t be the last chapter in Azeroth’s epic tale.

In World of Warcraft, the intricate narrative unfolding in the Worldsoul Saga appears unprecedented compared to previous expansions such as Mists of Pandaria, Warlords of Draenor, and Legion. Although these expansions interwove their respective plots, the Worldsoul Saga seems set to reach new heights. The storyline of The War Within has received favorable reviews thus far, so if World of Warcraft can maintain this quality, players can expect engaging content in the coming years.
