
A new update is now available for Hollow Knight: Silksong on all consoles. It includes several improvements to the game, which were initially released for PC in early November. This update aims to provide players with a smoother and more polished experience.
Since launching on September 4th, Hollow Knight: Silksong has been a hit with both critics and players. It’s even up for Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2025! This new game from Team Cherry follows Hornet as she journeys through the kingdom of Pharloom, challenging players with tough bosses, just like the original Hollow Knight. While the game has been widely praised, some players have encountered bugs, but the developers have already released several updates to fix them.
The latest update, Patch 4, is now available for all players. This update includes several improvements and officially incorporates a popular fan-made translation. Specifically, a Simplified Chinese translation created by the Team Cart Fix group is now built directly into the game. While the gameplay was well-received initially, Hollow Knight: Silksong received negative reviews from Chinese-speaking players because of translation problems. Team Cherry notes that many players have already been using Team Cart Fix’s translation as a mod on PC with great success. Adding it to the official game ensures everyone, regardless of their platform, can enjoy it.
This update includes a new translation and switches the game to Unity’s input system, which should make controllers work more smoothly. Patch 4 also fixes several bugs reported by players, continuing to refine an already polished game. Key fixes include properly protecting players from electrical hazards with the Fractured Mask, improving the Multibinder to clear enemies more effectively, and allowing the use of the Bellway without disrupting certain boss encounters. The Wreath of Purity is also more durable now, making it more useful in areas with poison water.
Now that Patch 4 is released, players are curious about Team Cherry’s future plans for Silksong. Many fans have requested a difficulty setting, as Silksong, like 2017’s Hollow Knight, offers a tough challenge. While the developers have already made some adjustments to address difficulty issues, some gamers would like more control over how hard the game is. It’s currently unknown if Team Cherry will add this feature.
The bosses in Silksong are designed to be more challenging than those in Hollow Knight. According to developer William Pellen, bosses in the new game actively choose their attacks and move around to best utilize them. This is a change from Hollow Knight, where bosses primarily reacted to the player’s actions. This new approach to boss design may explain why some players are finding Silksong more difficult than Team Cherry’s original game.
Okay, so we’re all still waiting for the next update, but it sounds like Team Cherry is definitely working on more content! They’ve hinted at plans for a Silksong DLC, which is awesome because it means they’re committed to supporting the game for a while. Plus, the composer, Christopher Larkin, said he’s still working with them, so that’s a good sign we’ll get more updates. We don’t know what those updates will be yet, but if they follow the same pattern as the original Hollow Knight, we’re in for a treat! I’m really excited to see what they come up with.

- Fixed Styx not giving rosaries when delivering the Queen’s Egg.
- Fixed Druid’s Eyes sometimes not equipping correctly when first acquired.
- Fixed some down attack colliders getting stuck on in rare instances.
- Fixed several instances of Hornet’s plasmified state clearing when not intended (eg Bellway travel).
- Fixed issues entering the plasmified state when killing a Winged Lifeseed, rather than using the Plasmium Phial.
- Reduced unintentionally long bind time when using Multibinder with the Shaman crest.
- Updated Multibinder’s initial bind to clear maggots, per community comments.
- Wreath of Purity durability increased.
- Fixed void incorrectly conducting electricity.
- Gurr the Outcast trap-throw attack updated from single lob to spin-style, to reduce time spent static. Other slight refinements.
- Fixed Beast Crest fury slashes not piercing as intended.
- Fixed Rune Rage damage scaling incorrectly.
- Fixed Thread Storm damage tapering (additional hits don’t taper down as sharply).
- Fixed rare instances of regaining control when grabbed by a Wraith.
- Fixed couriers incorrectly offering the same delivery immediately after completing it.
- Fixed additional instances of Hornet being able to push some enemy types through the floor.
- Fixed issues when using Harpoon to stun or kill certain bosses.
- Fixed Fractured Mask not protecting against volt hazards.
- Various smaller tweaks and fixes.
- Fixed Gloomsacs not damaging the player on impact, when on one mask.
- Fixed Lace (Cradle) slash attack sometimes not causing damage after being stunned.
- Fixed Beast’s Needle Strike sometimes gaining unintended height when performed in the air.
- Fixed additional instance of Second Sentinel being able to push Hornet out of bounds in rare instances.
