As a devoted moviegoer, I can’t help but get excited when new features are introduced in my favorite cinematic universe – Overwatch 2! In the heart of Season 11, a captivating addition called Mythic Weapon Skins made its debut in the mid-season patch. These unique weapon cosmetics are exclusively available in the Mythic shop and boast four distinct unlockable levels.
These visual masterpieces can be acquired using Overwatch 2’s very own currency, Mythic Prisms. The initial level costs a tidy 50 prisms, while the ultimate set of all levels sets you back 80 prisms. As we stand in Season 15, five out of the 42 heroes have been adorned with these magnificent skins: Ana, Reinhardt, Soldier: 76, Ashe, and Widowmaker.
Each of these characters now shines brighter than ever on the silver screen of Overwatch 2!
The upcoming Season 16 of Overwatch 2 will indeed feature a mythic weapon for Mercy that draws inspiration from Magical Girls. But fear not, as other characters are still in line to showcase their abilities later. Keep in mind, Team 4 has ample room to unleash their creativity with the rest of the team, particularly when it comes to heroes that don’t typically use gun-like weapons, making them quite popular among players.
Popular Overwatch Heroes That Still Deserve A Mythic Weapon
Ramattra
Ever since Ramattra made his debut in the Overwatch community through the end credits scene of the Storm Rising event from the Overwatch Archives, he’s been a highly anticipated figure. Gamers have expressed great excitement over the Omnic leader of Null Sector, mainly due to his intriguing backstory and appealing hero abilities. When the collaboration between Overwatch and World of Warcraft was hinted at, fans of the team-based shooter were on edge, hoping that Ramattra would receive a Mythic Weapon Skin. Some even speculated that the weapon displayed at the end of the Season 12 trailer could potentially be his staff.
While it’s true that the weapon featured in Reinhardt’s Lich King skin trailer was later revealed to be part of that specific skin, it doesn’t diminish Ramattra’s worthiness for a personalized Mythic Weapon Skin. Ideally, such an elite Level 4 Weapon design would include a Flourish animation, reactivity features, distinct sound effects, and impressive kill effects. Fortunately, the developers have demonstrated their ability to create top-tier skins for Ramattra, with many players praising the Poseidon Legendary Skin from Season 2 as an exceptional cosmetic example.
Tracer

Ever since her initial appearance in the beta version of Overwatch, players have found themselves drawn to Tracer’s fast-paced, up-close combat style that excels in flanking enemies. Interestingly enough, Mythic Weapon Skins, which have been awarded to characters from the original Overwatch as far back as Season 16, seem to favor heroes from the first game over those from Overwatch 2. Given that Tracer is one of the original 21 heroes introduced in Patch 1.0, she might have a higher chance of receiving recognition compared to more recent additions like Hazard, Lifeweaver, or Mauga.
Fans are anticipating that a legendary weapon skin for Tracer might appear by Season 18, but Blizzard hasn’t specified who will follow Mercy in line yet. Given that Tracer consistently ranks high in A-Tier status within Overwatch 2 and is frequently chosen by players, she would make an excellent choice as a popular hero to receive this legendary skin. Additionally, Tracer already possesses a Mythic Adventurer Skin from Season 5. Considering Team 4’s patterns of development, Soldier: 76 was the only hero to receive a legendary weapon skin without having a legendary skin first, which could suggest that a special weapon for Tracer may have already been created behind the scenes.
In the same vein as Soldier: 76, Reinhardt gained noteworthy attention. However, it’s important to mention that he obtained his Bound Demon Mythic Weapon Skin during Season 11 and was subsequently given a Thor Mythic Skin in Season 14.
Venture

A large segment of the Overwatch community has been drawn to Venture due to their unique humor and burrowing abilities. Regrettably, despite being well-known, there have been repeated issues concerning the absence of Venture skins in Overwatch 2. While Venture was given a Legendary Toph skin during Season 13, their followers continue to eagerly anticipate additional cosmetics for this non-binary archaeologist character.
It appears that Ashe and Widowmaker have received their own Mythic Weapon Skins in Seasons 14 and 15, making it seem unlikely another damage hero will get one soon. However, the idea isn’t entirely off the table since three consecutive Mythic Weapon Skins were given to damage heroes, and support heroes Moira and Mercy received back-to-back skins in Seasons 9 and 10. Nevertheless, Venture’s Drill still holds great promise for a future Mythic Weapon Skin.
Lucio

Among the limited number of support characters introduced during Overwatch’s 2016 launch, Lucio certainly warrants some exclusive Mythic-tier cosmetics. So far, only Ana and Mercy have received Mythic Weapon Skins, making Lucio a prime candidate for future additions. Being an underground DJ, there’s immense potential for unique Sound and Reactivity effects tied to his Sonic Amplifier. Just like the Mythic Weapon Skins for Ana and Widowmaker, it may include an engaging Flourish animation, perfect for tinkering with during idle moments or after securing a stunning elimination.
