Introduction
I’ve been getting great feedback on my game lists, and many people tell me they discover new games through them. So, I decided to start sharing a monthly top 10 list of trending strategy games on Steam! With so many new releases, sequels, and indie gems topping the charts, it feels like a natural fit, and I hope you’ll enjoy it. This month’s list features some of the most exciting and innovative strategy games released this year, covering everything from large-scale empire building to fast-paced tactical combat and creative city design.
10 – Master of Command
Master of Command is a standout strategy game coming in 2025, uniquely combining realistic, tactical battles from the Seven Years’ War with the replayability of rogue-like elements. You’ll lead historical armies, carefully manage supplies, and face challenging battles where every soldier counts. Winning feels incredibly rewarding, especially after defeating the difficult campaign bosses. It offers a more focused, tactical experience than many large-scale strategy games, with campaigns that are different every time you play, keeping things exciting and unpredictable. If you’ve been hoping for a spiritual successor to games like Empire or Napoleon Total War, this could be it.
9 – There Are No Orcs
I don’t usually cover games like There Are No Orcs, but I think many of you will find it interesting, especially considering its low price (under $10) and positive reviews. It’s a new game on Steam that uniquely combines real-time strategy, roguelike elements, auto-battler features, and tile-building. This creates a quick and highly replayable strategic experience. You select one of three factions and a commander, then construct buildings that automatically produce units during each playthrough. It’s gaining popularity due to its affordability, strong initial reception, and the depth of experimentation it offers – players who enjoy finding powerful combinations and clever tactics will be rewarded.
8 – Super Fantasy Kingdom
This isn’t a screenshot from an old Super Nintendo game – it’s Super Fantasy Kingdom, a unique city-building roguelite. During the day, you rebuild a fallen kingdom, and at night, you defend it from hordes of monsters. Published by the popular studio Hooded Horse, the game boasts a distinctive art style and recently launched into Early Access. Be warned: it’s a highly addictive strategy game with fast-paced gameplay and long-term progression, so you might lose track of time! You’ll be hooked, and suddenly it’ll be 3 AM and time to go to work.
