Next Fallout 76 Update Will Need You To Download The Entire Game Again

As a dedicated Fallout 76 player who’s spent countless hours scavenging through West Virginia’s wasteland, I must admit, this Milepost Zero update has left me a bit perplexed. Redownloading my entire game? That’s like asking a vault dweller to trek back to Vault 13!

brace yourself and ensure your setup is prepared, Fallout 76 enthusiasts. Bethesda Game Studios has announced that in order to implement the Milepost Zero update coming out in Fallout 76 next week, users will have to re-download the entire game again.

They mentioned that the reason for the change is a ‘repackaging initiative’ intended to significantly reduce the game’s file size. However, this development might prove inconvenient for those with limited or slow internet connections.

Major Update

The next big update for Fallout 76 offers new activities you can do again, changes to how you set up your camp, and improvements to existing quests, items, and weapons.

To apply the update, you’ll need to re-download your entire game, regardless of the device or platform you use to play Fallout 76.

As a gamer, when someone inquired on Twitter whether we’d have to take down and re-upload the game, Bethesda’s support team straight-up confirmed it: “Yep, you’ll need to do that.”

A significant question within the community revolves around the possibility of this action deleting in-game photo collections that players have painstakingly assembled over many years. At present, we’re uncertain if it will, but I’ve contacted Bethesda to gather all the details about this potential problem.

This transition brings about a refreshing difference in certain aspects, since Fallout 76 was previously an excessively large game. Currently, it takes up over 110 GB on various platforms, which is nearly four times larger than the initial size of Fallout 4 on PC.

Will you be playing Milepost Zero when it’s released?
