For the first time, the original 1993 tabletop RPG version of Shin Megami Tensei, known as Tokyo Conception, has been translated into English and is now available for pre-order via various retailers.
This role-playing game (RPG), titled “Shin Megami Tensei: Tokyo Conception,” is tailored for groups of 3 to 5 players along with a game master. Established Dungeons & Dragons groups can jump right in, while newcomers can easily form a group without extensive recruitment. The tabletop RPG offers an experience similar to the video game version of Shin Megami Tensei, allowing players to cast spells like Agi and Megido against iconic demons such as Jack Frost, Metatron, and the Moirae Sisters.
The book comes with over 300 pages of content, offering players more than 100 pages of demon stats and boss information, plus a PDF version of the White Vortex mini campaign to get players started on their journey. Since this is only the first time the book has been localized in English, Tokyo Conception is actually the 4th Edition of the Shin Megami Tensei tabletop RPG. That being said, Tokyo Conception was released in 2008 and shares its setting with the video game Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne. The TTRPG got an expansion, Mala Underground, just a few months after its release, but there’s no word yet on whether that will also be translated anytime soon.
Currently, gamers have the opportunity to secure their pre-orders for the upcoming game, Tokyo Conception, either through Amazon or Walmart. The anticipated release date is November 5th. The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) is $50, but those who pre-order will receive a 10% discount. However, the duration of this offer hasn’t been specified yet.
