Jujutsu Kaisen Creator Gege Akutami Confirms The Return Of Nobara Kugisaki In Modulo

This article contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.

The manga series Jujutsu Kaisen concluded in 2024, but fans were thrilled when a sequel, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, began in 2025. Modulo takes place decades after the original story, specifically 68 years following the battle against Sukuna. Over those years, many of the original characters, including Yuta and Maki, have passed away. However, some familiar faces, like Yuji Itadori, have surprisingly returned.

Fans always believed Yuji would return due to his unique abilities, and he’s not the only original character back in the story. Nobara Kugisaki, a key member of the original trio, has also reappeared, even if only briefly. This has sparked hope among fans that other important characters, like Megumi or even Sukuna, might return as well.

Nobara Kugisaki Returns In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo

The characters in Jujutsu Kaisen are incredibly popular, and for good reason. The original manga is a huge success, and fans have developed strong connections with these characters over time.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo takes place nearly 70 years after the original series ended, leading many viewers to believe that most of the original characters would be gone. The story now focuses on a new generation of sorcerers, including Yuka, Tsurugi, and Maru.

“Life wasn’t so bad!” — Nobara

The manga Modulo is clearly aimed at a new audience, but author Gege continues to surprise fans. Most recently, Nobara Kugisaki unexpectedly returned to the story. As one of the original main characters alongside Yuji and Megumi in Jujutsu Kaisen, her reappearance was a shock, especially considering the story’s timeline – she should be around eighty years old after being gone for sixty-eight years!

Good news for fans of Jujutsu Kaisen: Nobara is still alive! Chapter 13 of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo shows her doing well and being asked about Yuji’s location during the ongoing search. She mentioned she hasn’t seen him since the last funeral they attended.

Nobara Is Unlikely To Get Majorly Involved In The Story

Now that Nobara is back, fans are curious about her role in the story. While the author might have plans for her, it’s probably unlikely she’ll be a main character. She’s past her prime fighting years, and the story is now focused on the newer generation of characters.

She’ll likely make small appearances, but don’t expect her to be a central character. Fans are hoping the author, Gege, will show her more clearly, as she was only visible from far away in the recent manga chapter.

Nobara is a rare character Gege has reintroduced in the JJK Modulo sequel. The story initially focused on Yuta and Maki, which makes sense considering they are the grandparents of the new main characters. Unfortunately, their appearance was short-lived, as their deaths were soon revealed.

The biggest surprise for many fans was Yuji. There was a lot of speculation about whether he was still alive, but the author confirmed he remains a key character. Yuji has distanced himself from the other sorcerers, even his friends, because he isn’t aging like everyone else. Eventually, he’ll reappear as humanity’s final chance to defeat Dabura.

Fans Want To See Megumi and Sukuna’s Return

Fans of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo have been excited to see familiar faces reappear. The return of Yuji and Nobara has been a huge hit, and many believe we might see even more characters come back. Now that Yuji and Nobara are back, fans are hoping Gege will complete the original trio by bringing Megumi into the Modulo storyline as well.

“My name is Nobara Kugisaki. Be glad, boys, I’m the woman in your group.” — Nobara

There’s a possibility Megumi could reappear, assuming he survived. Fans are also hoping to see Sukuna back, now that a piece of him has been reintroduced to the plot. However, it’s unclear if the author will actually bring Sukuna back into the story.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s sequel, called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, runs in the Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 13 will be released on November 30, 2025. The release time of the chapter is midnight JST, or 11:00 AM ET (8:00 AM PT). Fans can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump app.
