My Hero Academia Anime Is Finally Fixing The Biggest Couple In The Series

This article contains spoilers from the My Hero Academia series.

Season 8 of My Hero Academia has been exceptionally well-received, and many consider it the best anime of 2025. As the season nears its conclusion and the Final War arc wraps up, fans realize the series is coming to an end. Originally planned for 11 episodes, My Hero Academia Season 8 will now include a special bonus episode, effectively making it a 12-episode season.

Episode 12 is shaping up to be huge and might resolve a major problem with how My Hero Academia concluded, specifically concerning the popular pairing of Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka.

My Hero Academia Anime Will Fix The Chaotic Ending To IzuOcha

The ending of the My Hero Academia manga left many fans puzzled. They were surprised that the author, Kohei Horikoshi, didn’t provide a clear resolution for the popular pairing of Izuku and Ochaco Uraraka, especially after years of subtly developing their relationship. However, Horikoshi later released an extra chapter alongside the final manga volume.

This chapter features Izuku and Ochaco becoming a couple. However, because it was released much later, with the final volume of the series, it caused a lot of debate among fans. Some don’t accept it as part of the official story, despite the author confirming that it is a genuine, albeit delayed, chapter.

The My Hero Academia anime has a chance to definitively resolve a long-standing debate by including chapter 431 in the main storyline. Doing so would firmly establish it as part of the official canon, and officially confirm Izuku and Ochaco – known as IzuOcha by fans – as the series’ main couple.

Izuku and Ochaco End Up Together

In My Hero Academia chapter 431, the story focuses on a reunion. After a long period of growing apart, Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka finally meet again, much to the delight of fans.

Shoto Todoroki is celebrating his new rank as the Number 2 Hero with a dinner party. At the party, Deku and Ochaco both struggle with their feelings, but with a little push from Bakugo and Toga, they finally act on them and share a romantic moment.

My Hero Academia Could Continue Beyond Season 8

Everyone agrees that Season 8 of My Hero Academia was fantastic and provided a great conclusion to the story. However, the anime might not be over just yet! While the details of the upcoming OVA are still unknown, it’s possible that Episode 11 will adapt Chapter 431 of the manga, as it’s a relatively short chapter.

If this is accurate, the recent special might be hinting at something larger, like a My Hero Academia movie. The creator has collaborated with Studio Bones on films before, so another one isn’t surprising. Plus, My Hero Academia will be at Jump Festa this year with some big news coming soon.

The My Hero Academia manga has finished its run after 431 chapters, all of which are available on Manga Plus. The anime is also wrapping up with a final season of 11 episodes, which you can stream on Crunchyroll.
