Free PS Plus Games for December 2025 Are Officially Available Now

December 2025’s free PlayStation Plus games are now ready to download. This month offers a bigger selection than normal, with five games available to PlayStation Plus members, including a highly-rated title from 2022.

Sony started offering free games to PlayStation Plus members in 2010, initially with two games each month. When the PlayStation 5 launched in 2020, they increased this to three games per month. Once you claim these games, you can play them as long as you maintain your active PlayStation Plus subscription.

Sony is switching things up this month and giving PlayStation Plus subscribers five free games – two more than they usually offer. The games available in December 2025 are Killing Floor 3, LEGO Horizon Adventures, Neon White, Synduality: Echo of Ada, and The Outlast Trials. You can claim these games between December 2nd and January 5th. Sony is offering this expanded lineup as a special holiday treat on the PlayStation Store.

All Free PS Plus Games in December 2025

Game Platform(s) Value User Score OpenCritic Avg.
Killing Floor 3 PS5 $39.99 3.51 70
LEGO Horizon Adventures PS5 $39.99 3.83 71
Neon White PS4, PS5 $24.99 4.73 89
Synduality: Echo of Ada PS5 $39.99 3.08 67
The Outlast Trials PS4, PS5 $39.99 4.69 72

Okay, so looking at the December 2025 PS Plus lineup, one game really jumps out at me: Neon White. It’s this super fast-paced first-person shooter where speedrunning is key, made by Angel Matrix. Seriously, it’s a fantastic game – it got an amazing “Mighty” rating on OpenCritic with an 89 average score and almost everyone who reviewed it (99%!) loved it. That put it among the best games of 2022, right up there with titles like Not for Broadcast, Hyper Demon, and Rogue Legacy 2. And it’s not just critics – players seem to love it too! It’s currently the highest-rated December 2025 PS Plus game on the PlayStation Store with a 4.73-star average, though The Outlast Trials is right on its heels with a 4.69.

Sony’s Free Monthly Game Strategy for PS Plus May Look Very Different Starting January 2026

Just two out of the five games offered this month are for PlayStation 4. Since Sony has announced they’ll be reducing PS4 game support on PS Plus starting in January 2026, this December’s selection could be one of the last to include several PS4 titles. However, Sony might start moving away from PS4 games with the PS Plus game catalog—available to Extra and Premium members—rather than the free monthly games.

Some PS Plus Users Have a 6th New Game to Play Today at No Extra Cost

Good news for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members: the PS5 version of Red Dead Redemption is now available! This updated version of the beloved 2010 game boasts significant visual improvements, including sharper graphics, better draw distances, HDR support, and more realistic shadows – matching the quality of the PC version’s highest settings. The resolution has also been boosted to 4K. Other enhancements include customizable controller settings, quicker loading, and features that take advantage of the DualSense controller. Interestingly, the PS5 version is actually slightly smaller in file size (9.74GB) than the original PS4 version (10.79GB).

The PS5 version of Red Dead Redemption delivers a smooth experience with 60 frames per second at native 4K resolution, which was also achievable on the PS4 when played on the PS5. Some players have reported a few small issues, like trophies not unlocking when loading older save files and characters sometimes vanishing during in-game scenes. Rockstar Games hasn’t officially commented on these problems yet.
