3 New Switch 2 Games Are All Releasing on the Very Same Day, Including Metroid Prime 4

The Switch 2 is expected to have a very busy day, with three new games launching at the same time. The console started strong last June with a variety of games, including the popular open-world racer Mario Kart World. Since then, Nintendo has consistently released new games, keeping players engaged with the home console/handheld hybrid.

Since its release, the Switch 2 has seen some great games, including the highly-rated exclusive Donkey Kong Bananza, the action-packed Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment (which blends Dynasty Warriors with the world of Zelda), and the fun racing game Kirby Air Riders. But exclusives aren’t the only thing Nintendo’s done. They’ve also released enhanced versions of popular Switch games for the new console, like Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Super Mario Party Jamboree, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and the upcoming Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

After an eight-year wait since it was first announced, fans will finally be able to play Metroid Prime 4: Beyond on December 4th. This release caps off a fantastic year for Nintendo. While the game will be available on the original Switch, the version for the upcoming Switch 2 will offer noticeably improved performance and compatibility with the new Joy-Con 2 mouse controls. For the best possible experience, the Switch 2 version is the recommended choice.

Reviews for Metroid Prime 4 are in, and the game has received a good overall score of 82 on OpenCritic. While reviewers generally agree it’s a fun adventure featuring Samus Aran, many feel it doesn’t quite reach the high bar set by previous Metroid Prime games.

New Switch 2 Games Releasing on December 4

  • Metroid Prime 4: Beyond – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
  • Octopath Traveler 0
  • Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

The December 4th launch of Metroid Prime 4 is already huge news for Switch 2 fans, but there’s even more to look forward to that day! Square Enix’s expansive RPG Octopath Traveler 0 and Sega’s exciting racer Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds are also releasing on the same date, making December 4 a particularly packed day for the platform.

Octopath Traveler 0 is a new game that serves as a prequel to the popular Octopath Traveler series from Square Enix. It’s packed with content, offering over 100 hours of gameplay for fans. This installment introduces a large roster of characters and a unique town-building feature, which should help it differentiate itself from previous games. While it’s too early to say definitively how good Octopath Traveler 0 is, the previous games in the series were very well-received by critics, both earning scores in the mid-80s.

Although a version of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has been playable on the Switch 2 for some time, this new, optimized release promises improved performance and graphics. The game has received largely positive feedback from both players and critics, and is currently one of the highest-rated games of the year based on user scores. The Switch 2 has already seen a lot of racing games, but if you’re a fan of the genre and looking for something new, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is worth checking out.
