The first part of Stranger Things Season 5 left viewers with a shocking cliffhanger, and now fans are eagerly waiting for the remaining two parts to be released. There’s a lot of anticipation surrounding what will happen, and Netflix could drop a new trailer at any moment to give us a sneak peek at the exciting conclusion.
Fans have been eager to find out how long the final episodes will be, hoping for substantial installments. Rumors about the finale’s length have been circulating, and now Netflix has officially confirmed the runtime for Episode 8.
Stranger Things Season 5 Final Episode Will Be Over Two Hours Long
That’s right, The Rumors Around The Runtime Were True

- Stranger Things Season 5 Final Episode Will Be 2 Hours 5 Minutes Long
- The final episode will also get a limited theatrical release.
Before the first part of the final season of Stranger Things came out, people were speculating that the very last episode would be over two hours long. Turns out, the rumors were correct! Netflix has now confirmed the finale will be two hours and five minutes long.
The eighth and final episode of the series will premiere on New Year’s Eve, December 31st. In a special event, Netflix is also hosting a limited fan screening of the episode in 500 theaters across the US and Canada on the same day. Screenings will begin around 5 p.m. Pacific Time, coinciding with the episode’s release on Netflix worldwide. Fans in the US and Canada can find participating theaters and reserve tickets at the ST5Finale website.
It’s good news the last episode is the length we anticipated, but it’s worth remembering the Season 4 finale was two and a half hours long. This final episode of Season 5 is a bit shorter. Also, Season 4 had nine episodes total, while Season 5 will have eight. Ultimately, fans will likely prefer a strong conclusion rather than a drawn-out story that needs an extra episode.
What’s The Runtime For Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 Episodes?
Netflix Has Yet To Reveal More Details Around Volume 2
Image via Netflix We know how long the Season 5 finale will be, but Netflix hasn’t yet announced the lengths of Episodes 5 through 7. There are rumors that Episode 5 will be about 1 hour and 17 minutes long, Episode 6 around 58 minutes, and Episode 7 a full 1 hour and 37 minutes. However, Netflix hasn’t confirmed these times, so this information isn’t official.
We actually have some confirmed information about Volume 2: the episode titles! The Duffer Brothers shared all of the Season 5 episode titles before Volume 1 even came out. Here they are:
- Episode 5: Shock Jock
- Episode 6: Escape from Camazotz
- Episode 7: The Bridge
- Episode 8: The Rightside Up
While episode titles don’t give everything away, they definitely offer clues about what’s coming. “Escape from Camazotz” strongly suggests Max (and Holly) will be trying to break free from Vecna’s mental trap. “The Bridge” likely refers to a connection between the real world and the Upside Down, though it’s unclear if this ‘bridge’ is a person or something else. “Rightside Up” probably means the real world will ultimately win against the Upside Down. However, this victory won’t be easy, and some characters are likely to make the ultimate sacrifice. We’ll have to wait for the release of Volume 2 to find out who won’t survive.
