This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Elbaf arc.
The anime and manga series One Piece is now in the Elbaf Arc, and the creator, Oda, is focusing on making the Straw Hat Pirates incredibly powerful. With the World Government becoming a major threat, Luffy and his crew must train intensely to become strong enough to face it.
Luffy is already incredibly powerful, possessing both Haki and a Devil Fruit ability. He’s not only mastered his Devil Fruit, but he’s also awakened it, unlocking the power of the Sun God Nika. He’s also become very skilled with Haki, though there’s still potential for further growth.
This naturally leads to questions about Luffy’s next ability, and Oda has already hinted at it during the Elbaf arc in the Realm of the Dead. It seems Luffy’s next goal will be learning to use the Voice of All Things.
Luffy’s New Power Is The Voice of All Things
As a huge One Piece fan, I’m constantly amazed by Luffy’s growing strength! He’s already incredibly powerful, but what really excites me is this idea that power isn’t just about Haki or Devil Fruits. I think the biggest ability Luffy is going to unlock is the ‘Voice of All Things.’ We first got a hint of it with Rayleigh back on Sabaody, and Oda has since confirmed that Roger possessed it too! That’s how he was able to locate those crucial Poneglyphs, and I can’t wait to see how Luffy develops this incredible power!
Wait, how did I know it was Chopper who was falling down? — Luffy to Sanji
It seems Roger eventually mastered this ability, but Luffy hasn’t figured it out yet. However, recent developments in the story suggest Luffy will soon learn to use it as well.
Luffy Has Started To Awaken His Voice of All Things
Luffy is beginning to develop his ability, Voice of All Things. After the fight in Wano, when Shanks held back Green Bull, Luffy sensed strong Haki like everyone else. However, Luffy uniquely was able to ‘see’ Shanks in his mind, which happened because he could perceive Shanks’ presence through his Haki.
Rayleigh explains that Roger wasn’t able to decipher the Poneglyphs. Instead, he possessed the ability to hear the Voice of All Things, and that was his unique skill.
Perhaps even more significantly, while in Elbaf and visiting Loki in the afterlife, Luffy clearly sensed Chopper falling from a considerable distance. Sanji only knew someone was falling, but Luffy immediately recognized the voice as Chopper’s. This moment was intentionally included by Oda to demonstrate that Luffy is beginning to develop his ability, the Voice of All Things.
Luffy’s New Power Will Help Him Find The One Piece
I’ve been seeing a lot of discussion about Luffy and his upcoming ability, the Voice of All Things. It seems like people are trying to figure out how this power will actually help him. Basically, the Voice of All Things lets him communicate with everything in the world. What I’m noticing is that a lot of fans are assuming it only works on things like buildings or weapons, but that’s probably not right.
The Voice of All Things can allow someone to decipher the meaning behind a Poneglyph’s story. Poneglyphs essentially ‘speak’ on their own, and this ability lets someone understand what they’re saying. Beyond that, it can also enable communication with living creatures, like the giant elephant Zunesha, or even with nature itself, such as trees.
This suggests the islands themselves have a way of communicating, and this ability will likely be essential for Luffy to find the final Poneglyph and, more importantly, Laugh Tale. Furthermore, this power could also help him truly understand the core principles of Haki, which are rooted in spirit and willpower.
The latest chapter of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece will appear in this week’s Weekly Shonen Jump. Chapter 1168 is scheduled for release on December 7, 2025. In Japan, it will be available at midnight on Monday, which translates to 11:00 AM Eastern Time or 8:00 AM Pacific Time. Readers can access the chapter without charge on Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump app.
