Mad Men’s Puke Scene Has an Unfortunate Error
A viewer recently noticed a strange error in the new 4K version of Mad Men on HBO Max: a crew member and the equipment used to create a vomiting effect are visible in a key scene. The scene, featuring John Slattery’s character Roger Sterling, shows him getting sick after eating oysters – a moment meant to be embarrassing for him in front of everyone. However, the HBO Max version clearly shows the “puke machine” and the person operating it in the background. IGN has confirmed this issue with its own video clip. This mistake is a noticeable distraction and detracts from what is otherwise a strong performance from the cast of Mad Men.
It’s not uncommon for TV shows to have problems when they move to streaming services – things often change during the transition. A recent example is the comedy Scrubs, where some of the show’s well-known songs were replaced when it started streaming on Netflix. This happened because of music licensing issues, and fans weren’t pleased. This situation has even led some people to prefer buying shows on DVD or Blu-ray.
