Shanks, our ever-enigmatic Yonko, has been quietly amassing Road Poneglyphs like no one’s business. With his recent acquisition of Kaido’s and Big Mom’s Poneglyphs, and knowing the whereabouts of another, he’s now closer than ever to unlocking the One Piece’s location.

The Road Poneglyphs carry incredible significance in the One Piece world. Introduced to the fans during the Zou arc, these red stones are incredibly important when it comes to locating the One Piece.

To set foot on the Laugh Tale island, you need to gather all four artifacts first. So far, only three individuals have managed to amass all four artifacts: the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, and his crew. With the Worst Generation now ruling the seas, many pirates are actively searching for these artifacts at present.

This artifact was in her possession for a long time, and it is well-known to fans that Captain Roger took it from her before his journey to Laugh Tale.

Later on, Brook also made off with a Poneglyph during the Whole Cake Island saga, expanding Luffy’s hoard of these artifacts. As a result of her tumble from her throne in the Wano storyline, Big Mom no longer wields the same authority she once possessed. At this point, her future is uncertain.

Update: Big Mom Is Out Of The Race For The One Piece

Initially, Big Mom held a single Poneglyph, but ultimately met her match against the team of Kid and Law during the Wano arc. Following her defeat, Big Mom was confined to an underground volcano. Unfortunately, this volcano erupted, leaving fans uncertain about Big Mom’s fate. If she has perished, then the Poneglyph she possessed would likely transfer to Katakuri.

If Big Mom is indeed alive, then she would still possess it. Regardless of her current status as ex-Emperor, this implies that she has ceased her pursuit for the One Piece. Consequently, whether or not she possesses a Poneglyph is immaterial, as she lacks the necessary abilities to reach the Final Island, and all her prior endeavors were futile.

6 Kaido

Update: Kaido Is Out of The Race For One Piece

Initially, Kaido did not possess any Poneglyph. The Road Poneglyph of Wano was safeguarded by the Kozuki family under the old Flower Capital. Since ancient times, the real Wano has been submerged in water. Later, when Kaido took control, it was Jack who discovered this Poneglyph. This allowed Kaido brief access to it. For years, he had possession of the Poneglyph until, at the conclusion of the Wano storyline, Luffy defeated him. He was then sent to a volcano along with Big Mom, and as previously discussed, this volcano later erupted, leaving Kaido’s fate uncertain.

Although Kid didn’t manage to defeat Kaido during their battle, he engaged in combat with Big Mom and contributed significantly to her defeat. Post-war, Law bestowed upon him a replica of the Road Poneglyph. Subsequently, Kid disclosed that he had previously obtained a rubbing of Big Mom’s Road Poneglyph from one of her high-ranking officers. Consequently, he now possesses two out of the four Road Poneglyph copies.

Update: Kid Out Of The Race For The One Piece

Eustass Kid was once prominently involved in the hunt for the legendary treasure known as One Piece. He possessed two of the four Road Poneglyphs until very recently. However, following an encounter with Shanks, he no longer possesses any of them. This is due to a fierce battle that left him severely injured and rendered him powerless.

On this fateful day, the entire Kid Pirate crew suffered a catastrophic defeat just beyond the borders of Elbaf, the war-torn land. Shanks and his crew seized all the Poneglyphs belonging to the Kid Pirates, and as a result, they were forced to descend into the depths of the ocean. Given this turn of events, it’s highly likely that fans will no longer witness Kid in the pursuit of the One Piece, since he is now, without a doubt, out of contention for finding it.

4 Trafalgar Law

Trafalgar Law is another pirate who came very near to finding the famed treasure known as the One Piece. He possessed knowledge about the Road Poneglyphs of Zou and Wano. Regrettably, following the events in Wano, he encountered Blackbeard on his journey and had a fierce battle with him.

In the end, Law suffered a defeat and lost his Poneglyphs in the process. Now, he possesses no Road Poneglyphs whatsoever, effectively eliminating him from the hunt for the One Piece. Bepo managed to save his life, but unfortunately, the rest of Law’s pirate crew and their ship were sunk by a Yonko, leaving them at the bottom of the sea.

3 Shanks

Shanks is quite a curious case as he is known to hold no Poneglyphs currently. However, he was a member of the Roger Pirates. As such, Shanks already knows where all the Road Poneglyphs are.

It’s plausible that he might possess a copy of each one, given the information fans have about Shanks deliberately remaining inactive until Luffy defeated Kaido. Although it’s not definite, it’s highly likely that Shanks is aware of their locations.

Update: Shanks Has New Road Poneglyphs

Among the powerful sea lords known as the Yonko, Shanks stands tall and also sails as a pirate in pursuit of the elusive One Piece treasure. Despite possessing knowledge about the whereabouts of most Road Poneglyphs, Shanks had no desire to chase after the treasure until Kaido was vanquished. Following Luffy’s ascension to the rank of Yonko, Shanks felt it was time for him to make a change in his own journey.

Right away, Shanks overpowered Kid in a fight outside Elbaf, snatching Kid’s two Road Poneglyphs in the process. These artifacts are connected to Kaido and Big Mom. Since Zou houses one of these Poneglyphs and Shanks has friendly ties there, it’s plausible he could obtain that one. This leaves the remaining Poneglyph with the man bearing the burn scar. It’s uncertain if Shanks knows this individual or possesses the artifact himself, though he might or might not. Fans will only learn the truth through further developments in the story. For now, it can be said that Shanks currently holds two Poneglyphs and is aware of the location of a third. This puts him among those closest to finding the One Piece at present.

From the beginning, Blackbeard had his sights set on the elusive “One Piece.” Despite ascending to the rank of Yonko during the timeskip, it remained unclear among fans just how close he was to the treasure itself. To this day, fans are still in the dark about exactly how many Road Poneglyphs Blackbeard may possess.

It’s not in doubt among fans that he obtained at least two Road Poneglyphs, specifically those he just took from Law and they are from Zou and Kaido. Plus, there’s a strong possibility that his crew also acquired the one Big Mom previously possessed when they attacked Whole Cake Island. If this is true, Blackbeard would now have three out of four known Road Poneglyphs in his possession.
