Will Space Marine 2 Have Crossplay – Answered

As a veteran gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and relief at the news that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will indeed feature crossplay. The prospect of battling it out with fellow Space Marines across different platforms has always been a dream of mine, ever since my first foray into multiplayer gaming on a humble dial-up connection.

As a die-hard Warhammer 40k: Space Marine fan, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the release of Space Marine 2, scheduled for September 9, 2024. However, there’s been a question that’s been lingering in my mind – will Space Marine 2 support crossplay?

Luckily, we know the answer.

Space Marine 2 Crossplay Details

By the end of August, Warhammer officially revealed the details about crossplay functionality in Space Marine 2. Essentially, Space Marine 2 is going to support multiplayer gaming across various platforms.

Starting from its release date, Space Marine 2 will offer “complete cross-platform compatibility” across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.

“You will be able to play the Campaign and PvE modes without any restriction,” the developers said.

Note that when engaging in the PvP mode known as “Eternal War” within Space Marine 2, there’s a slight restriction to consider. Crossplay is limited to players using PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) and console platforms (PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X|S). In essence, individuals playing on PC will compete against other PC users, whereas console gamers will be matched up with opponents on similar consoles.

The eagerly awaited Space Marine 2 will begin its early access phase on September 6. The complete version of the game will be available to all players on September 9, and it’s set to release simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms.
