If you ask any Resident Evil player about memorable locations, you’ll almost always hear about Spencer Mansion. It was the very first setting in the whole series, and honestly, that creepy mansion is stuck in my head – and probably a lot of other players’ heads – forever.
As a huge Resident Evil fan, I’m getting really excited! It looks like the next main game, Resident Evil Requiem, might finally recapture that classic survival horror vibe we all loved – even if it’s not in the Spencer Mansion itself. The recent gameplay reveal has me hopeful!
New Footage Sparks Classic RE Horror Hopes

Recently aired on Japanese TV, new video footage quickly caught the attention of fans. Viewers noticed gameplay happening in the background, creating a lot of excitement and speculation.
Though the video is just around thirty seconds long, it effectively introduces the main character, Grace Ashcroft, as she explores a creepy, ominous mansion from a third-person perspective – and it looks fantastic.
[…] that unforgettable labyrinth of dread lives rent-free in pretty much everyone’s mind […]
Honestly, playing this game felt like stepping right back into the classic series! The gameplay is so similar – that slower pace, and those wonderfully creepy, shuffling zombies… it really brought back all the best memories of exploring the Spencer Mansion. You absolutely have to check it out for yourself – I’ve linked it below!
Fans are really impressed with the game’s atmosphere right away! The detailed architecture and tight spaces strongly remind people of the original Resident Evil. It perfectly captures the gothic and suspenseful mood that fans have been hoping for, and it’s something everyone seems to be enjoying.
Keep in mind this is a TV special, so it might only give a general overview of the game’s environments and how it plays. Still, it’s great news that we’ll be revisiting that creepy, claustrophobic world with its strange biological weapons, isn’t it?
Good news! Resident Evil Requiem will be released on February 27, 2026, and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
