How to Get All Praxic Blade Upgrades in Destiny 2

The Praxic Blade is a really strong and enjoyable Exotic weapon in Destiny 2, and it recently got even better with the release of the Renegades expansion. It essentially lets players use a lightsaber-like blade in the game! But it’s more than just a cool-looking weapon – there are over 20 different parts you can find to upgrade it. We’ve created a detailed guide to help you find all the Catalysts, Power Cores, Dark Matter Crystals, and everything else you need to fully upgrade your Praxic Blade in Destiny 2: Renegades.

You can earn Praxic Blade Catalysts by completing the Fire and Ice Exotic mission on Legendary difficulty. It’s possible to get all three Catalysts in a single playthrough, and we’ll detail how to do so below.

How to Get the Upper Hand Catalyst for the Praxic Blade in Destiny 2

At the beginning of the Fire and Ice mission, you’ll need to defeat two Taken Knights called the Imbalance Wardens. You can find one near the Imperator Cannon, which is to your right when you start, and the other in a room down a hallway to the left in the Abandoned Yard.

Now, continue with the quest and finish the other Catalysts. Come back to this part of the guide after you’ve finished the 4 Blights challenge.

Once you’ve dealt with all four Blights, a portal will open, bringing you back to the Courtyard. Use the Pyramid Node to flip the Ascendant Plane, but don’t go through the portal just yet. Instead, head back to the locations where you defeated the Taken Knights. You’ll now find smaller Taken Blights there. Destroy these with your Praxic Blade, and then you can finally enter the portal to face the Disciple of Harrow boss.

During the last part of the Disciple of Harrow fight, look under the arena floor – you’ll see two White Blights at the back. To activate them, you need to fill them with Paired Energy, which are white orbs. You get these orbs by defeating either two Cabal Centurions or two Taken Centurions.

After you’ve completely filled all the White Blights, finish the mission by filling the Black Blights and defeating the boss. Once you do, a gold chest will appear at the Praxic Blade altar, giving you the chance to get the Upper Hand Catalyst.

How to Get the Echoing Blade Catalyst for the Praxic Blade in Destiny 2

During the Fire and Ice mission, you’ll find 7 Oddities that need to be destroyed using the Praxic Blade. To make them appear, you first need to shoot the 4 Pyramid Nodes in the room where you found the Imbalanced Octant after going through the portal.

Oddity Location #1

To find the first Oddity, don’t go straight into the central pillar’s jumping puzzle. Instead, when you fall, head left and land on a small ledge before you reach the bottom. Continue through the icy caves and across the platforms. You’ll find a special ammo crate – stand near it, then throw your Praxic Blade at the Oddity that appears on the disappearing walls.

Oddity Location #2

Once you’ve defeated the first Oddity, head back the way you came, but stay to the right. You’ll come across a wall that vanishes, leading to a new area. Jump up the wall on your left, then crawl through the opening to find and destroy another Oddity.

Oddity Location #3

Head to the jumping puzzle with the push-off walls and follow the usual path to move forward. Climb the big rock on the right side, but don’t turn left. Instead, go straight ahead and jump up and over the walls to discover a hidden Oddity.

Oddity Location #4

Okay, so you keep going through the level like normal until you get to that room where you have to jump up all the platforms and climb into the ceiling. Once you’re up there, head towards the middle and find a little ledge you have to duck to get under. Then, facing forward, swing your Praxic Blade to break open a hole – be careful, the floor disappears quickly! Drop down, activate that disappearing wall, and then throw the Praxic Blade into the wall to hit the Oddity. It’s a little tricky, but totally worth it!

Oddity Location #5

Continue along the main path, past the maze with its gates and shifting floors, and climb as usual. Instead of entering the white hole in the wall, look up and climb the railing above. Keep looking upwards, and you’ll eventually discover a hidden, disappearing platform inside a ceiling pillar – jump into it! To complete this challenge, throw the Praxic Blade into the crack in the wall.

Oddity Location #6

Okay, so after going through that hole in the wall and dealing with those Taken Hobgoblins, I took a left near the third one. Then I looked down and spotted some triangle-shaped ledges I could climb down. Once I was at the bottom, I found another Oddity to the right. This one was tricky – I had to throw my Praxic Blade at the wall beside the Oddity, aiming for a bounce-shot to actually hit it.

Oddity Location #7

Once you’ve defeated Oddity #6, jump back onto the platform and head to the right. Then, jump again to get over the rocks sticking out of the ground. Climb to the top of those rocks and continue across the platforms. Next, climb the large crystal to reach the top pillar. On the back right side of that pillar, throw the Praxic Blade upwards into the vent to destroy the Oddity.

Okay, so once you’ve smashed all seven of those weird Oddities, the Echoing Blade Catalyst will drop in a gold chest. You’ll find it right near the Praxic Blade altar when the mission ends – can’t miss it!

How to Get the Hyperblade Catalyst for the Praxic Blade in Destiny 2

To earn the Hyperblade Catalyst, progress through the Fire and Ice mission until you face the four Taken Blights. Begin by defeating Centurions to get either Paired or Opposite Energy. Then, deliberately fail the encounter by focusing all your energy on one Blight and completely neglecting the other.

To proceed, gather Energy and use it on each of the four Blights, matching the energy color to the Blight’s color. (For Black Blights, defeat two of the same Centurion. For White Blights, defeat one of each type.) If a Blight becomes unbalanced, it will reset and spawn an Imbalanced Warden. Repeat this process with all four Blights, then defeat the four Imbalance Wardens that appear. This will cause smaller Taken Blights to spawn in the center of the room.

Once you’ve placed all four Blights into the pillars in the center of the room, use the Praxic Blade to destroy them. This will cause the Catalyst of Imbalance boss (Taken Ogre) to appear. Defeating the boss will unlock a gold chest at the Praxic Blade altar, which contains the Hyperblade Catalyst at the end of the mission.

How to Get All Power Cores for the Praxic Blade in Destiny 2

How to Get the Impact Core

You can currently find the Impact Core for sale at the Tharsis Cantina. However, it seems this Power Core for the Praxic Blade isn’t fully functional in the game just yet. We’ll update this guide as soon as it’s working!

How to Get the Refraction Core

Within the Tharsis Outpost, you’ll find a sleeping Fallen Vandal near the garbage piles, typically in the southern part of the Bazaar. While his exact location can change each day, we’ve noted where we usually find him. You can buy Junk from him for 100 Credits each time, and you have a chance to get the Refraction Core upgrade. Getting the upgrade can take a lot of Credits – sometimes thousands. We personally spent about 4,000 Credits to get it, so keep buying Junk until you’re lucky!

How to Get the Gyro Core

The Power Core needed for the Praxic Blade is currently located inside the Equilibrium Dungeon, which will be available on December 13th. We’ll update this guide with specific instructions on how to find the Gyro Core as soon as it’s discovered after the Dungeon releases.
