Sad Cat Studios announced that their cyberpunk game, Replaced, will be available on Xbox Game Pass starting March 12, 2026. This highly anticipated side-scroller joins a strong lineup of games coming to the service in 2026, including popular franchises like Halo, Fable, and Gears of War.
First revealed at E3 in 2021, Replaced is a fast-paced action-platformer set in a dark, alternate version of 1980s America. A nuclear war has ruined the country, and players control R.E.A.C.H., an artificial intelligence stuck inside a human body. Beyond its exciting combat and fluid movement, Replaced stands out thanks to its stunning pixel art, which is brought to life with impressive camera work and lighting effects.
Replaced Is Coming to Xbox Game Pass on March 12, 2026
Sad Cat Studios has announced that Replaced will now launch on March 12, 2026. They revealed the new date with a trailer on IGN’s YouTube channel, which also showed about two minutes of gameplay. Replaced is now one of three Xbox Game Pass games with confirmed 2026 release dates.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting a release date for Replaced for quite some time. Originally announced at E3 2021, the game has been in development at Sad Cat Studios since 2018. It was initially planned for release in 2022, but was quickly delayed. After another appearance at The Game Awards 2022, a general 2023 release date was given. However, it was delayed again in September 2023, as the developers wanted to make sure the final product met fans’ expectations. Most recently, in August 2024, Replaced faced another delay, pushing its release to 2025, with developers again citing quality assurance as the reason.
After numerous delays – three official ones, to be exact – and a total of seven years in development, Replaced finally has a release date: March 12, 2026. Gamers will be able to play it on Xbox and PC through Game Pass, or purchase it on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG. While there’s no official word yet, versions for PlayStation 5 and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 are still possible.
Xbox Game Pass is shaping up to have a fantastic 2026, with over 40 games already confirmed for release. While Replaced is one of the few with a specific 2026 date, many other highly anticipated titles are on the way. Alongside Halo: Campaign Evolved, Fable, and Gears of War: E-Day, players can look forward to major releases like Forza Horizon 6, Persona 4 Revival, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, and Subnautica 2. The service will also feature a variety of smaller, but promising games, including Mixtape, Vampire Crawlers, Denshattack!, Harmonium: The Musical, and Buckshot Roulette. Even based on this list alone, Xbox Game Pass is set for a strong year.
